We are prepping the outside in anticipation of the coming Winter and need some help. Below is a picture of the my outside kitchen & grill station. This is the first year or should I say winter with the outside kitchen we had built this past Spring. The main thing I want to accomplish is to cover grill better and the three doors so the water and ice does not penetrate. We have a good quality plastic but are unsure on if we should use tape (if so what kind) to hold the plastic on. I don't want to ruin the granite or travertine stone. Any ideas? Thanks a bunch.

First pad the top to protect it from scratches. Two layers of plastic, lots of 100 mile a hour tape, weight on the top to keep the
plastic down. You may want to cover the tile on the deck also
to keep the water out (freeze thaw will crack the joints). You might
also want to seal the tile joints if you haven't. Or you may want to just buid a room around it as suggested in the first post.
By the way it is very nice looking, you did a good job:)
Use TYVEK from your local big box store and the TYVEK tape. You can get the off-brand wrap - it works fine, but the TYVEK tape is really the bomb.

I wrapped two speedsters up with that two years ago and they are still bone dry while stored outside. All the tape still sticks and the tyvek remains intact.

If you're thinking about using duct tape consider a better alternative, it's called Atomic tape. It looks and acts like duct tape but does not leave the sticky residue when removed and does not deteriorate like duct tape. We used it last year to seal the tarps on our sailboat and it works as advertised. I haven't found many sellers but there is one one Bay.
