Need to replace the battery in my IM speedster. I believe it is a 1941CC. Dual webers, and I had the clutch changed from a 6v to 12v. Battery slot is the usual 6x9 slot up in the nose. I only drive a few thousand miles per year. Should I just get a standard 12v battery for the most economical price? Costco? Autozone? Thx

A 6v clutch is 180mm. A 12v is 200mm.(There are exceptions, but they are really rare.)

When changing this, the flywheel, clutch disc, and pressure plate need to be changed. Also the starter gear is smaller since the flywheel is physically a larger diameter.

And also, if the swing axle trans is an early version(usually having two drain plugs), the bellhousing needs to be clearanced for the flywheel. If this isn't done right, you throw the trans case away.

FYI: Walmart EverStart batteries.  I recently had to hunt for a new battery, and came to understand that there is a "new" technology out there having to do with the way they construct the lead plates. It's noted as AGM (absorbent glass mat), which is the way the liquid is held between the lead plates allowing the lead to be pure vs an alloy.  Giving Higher charge densities, same volume, much higher vibration resistance, no maintenance, longer warranty, and of course, a somewhat bigger price.  But not too bad, really. I'd put the $$ premium as worth the extra warranty.  Four year full replacement.  Not every Walmart will have, but I think their superstores with automotive garages stock them ready to go.  They can be ordered on-line. The AGM ones are noted as Platinum, I think. The whole line of lead-acid batteries they have involve four or five different styles and quality. Other battery brands feature the AGM aspect also.
