Help! ...found the wheel and rim setup I want for my stock CMC speedster ...knew it wasn't going to work with stock wheel wells. Hope somebody out there has some ideas/tips/parts to help. Gave up on stock appearance long ago (1985) when I got a real crappy CMC kit. Hope I don't have to make them myself...

Shame you aren't in FL neighborhood --- local guy has complete CMC wide body molds. Way back someone here sliced body on either side and widened the rear without the looks of flare.
Have seen some photos of starting... to do this with the real metal McCoy but they did not show any of the finished "look"... this is a real possibility and in reality... easier than adding some funky flares..Thanks Wolfgang
Gary, Have you thought about cutting a pie shape wedge out of the fender and widening the fender at the body instead of tacking on a funky flare?
Ted
I can't like that process enough. It's so much more refined.
If you're going to do it, do it once and do it right.

TRP and ALBA...gort those pics and it does seem like the most logical and unique way of of doing it...anybody out there do it in fiberglass? and do you have to cut or grind(thin?) the part just behind the door jamb?
ALB - Thxs for photos. That's the one I remember. I'd think you'd have to cut piece at or couple inches past door. It would be subtle fix but a lot of work over just putting on rear flares. (Air intakes just behind the doors for a Subbie mill would be next consideration.) The CMC rear flares do look add-on. I'm sure that was intent back in 1985. Flares that are more blended into body would look better. There generally is sufficient room in front wheel well for larger tires/wheels without flares there.
I guess this is what finished slice cut would look like:
Thanks again Wolfgang!!!!..Love the look! somehow I don't think the role bar is adequate for my purpose....
I have seen some rear ends with well done flares...I just thought there would be more options available
...anybody out there do it in fiberglass?
Intermeccanica. Matt's IM6 had them. Bob's new IM6 will as well.
It's astounding.
