Ok Jim, "love fest" now that cracked me up!!!!! And I like the way you said, which is cool when one is getting a new car. Thats the way it ought to be. We do love our cars, we are not just car crazy, in the car world we are the guy in the rubber room bouncing off the walls...LOL

I for one would love to see more photos of Stuart's car? John? You are the only hope we have I'm afraid. It is a really cool car and lets face it, its hard to go wrong with those colors.

Who me??? When I was over on the 3rd, Stuart's car was not photo ready unfortunately. I don't know if I will have time between now and when the car ships to stop over for a photo shoot. Yes, details would be nice. You will probably have to rely on Stu to provide the goods this time after his car arrives in Idaho.
As an side, picking up on the clean shop floor comment...

Just last night I was mentioning to my wife that while I'm sure there are some great mechanics in truly messy shops, it's always been my experience that great mechanics often do have very attractive or at the very least well organized and well taken care of shops. Boyd Coddington may be a bit over the top in that category, but it has always been my experience that some level of organization and cleanliness is indicative of the quality of the work.

In that vein, all the shop photos I've been from all the builders (IM especially) seem to fit my expectations in that regard.

John:

Spoke to Steve this morning. I told him if you are over there that you may want to take a test drive in my car which is fine by me. If you do and you coulod snap a few as well as yours and mine side by side that would be cool. Don"t go out of your way, but since it is there and you are as well if you want to take it for a spin be my guest.

Steve,

That's impossible, we all stopped believing your car actually exists a long time ago. Hehehe. :)

PS Can't wait to see it, that was one detailed build list. Do you have a sense of just how accurate it should be trim-wise compared with a real one of the same vintage?
It will be very, very close, although the european script really ended in January of 56 on the Cabriolet, and the single bar overrider tube didn't start until later that year, but I haven't ever found any information on when exactly. The overrider bar was only for US spec cars so I'm not sure anyone really knows the answer to that question.

Oh, you were just kidding me weren't you.....LOL
Stuart there are a couple of options, but unless you have a lot of support built in they aren't good for much weight. The one I have is a stainless steel reproduction from Classic Carriers. You can get a less expensive one from NLA. They attach in the engine grill area, and shouldn't be too much to take off....I'm guessing 15 minutes?
Stuart: In response to post of 8/7/05 I am not in the market for a speedster at this time. Best of luck with yours.

Also in response to your last question of that post.

In June of 2002 I called Kirk at Vintage Speedster from my cell phone by the roadside to order my VS. I put the deposit on my credit card and took delivery in September of that year. During the short build period I received several e-mails containing pictures of the car, far more than I ever received in a year with SAW. The day I took delivery (Exactly to the day Kirk promised) the car came off the truck registered with plates, started on the first try, and gave me not a problem till the day I sold it to another member of this site. This is how I expect to buy a product - Especially when I'm spending 30 Grand or more.
