Hi All..... I know some of you have taken river cruises in europe, so I'm asking for help selecting an agency to help the wife and I.... Thinking of the Seine or the Danube.... I just don't want to take a tour of the river Styx with Carnaval Lines or enjoy the gastronomic delights of Disney's stomach virus extravaganza..... I know this is not in their venue, but why take chances...

Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most.....

Leon---what a great idea---Margaret is gonna love a river cruise---you too!

Alice and I took the River Baroness (Google it) from Paris to Normandy and thouight it was better than any ocean cruise we have done (Although Tahiti is right up there!) Seems like it was 8-10 days or aboard and unlike the ocean cruises, ALL the tours are included---so the wine on board. Looking out the windows going along the Seine was like looking at a moving picture. The towns and places we toured were spectacular---like the very spot where Joan Of Arc was burned at the stake. Walking through towns that are the same today as the 1400s was amazing. Then the tour of Normandy was incredible. There are still German fortifications with big guns still in place. After we were there thet discovered a troop bunker that had been covered with dirt thrown up by bombs that was still loaded with food, ammo, guns, etc---no people though. I guess that one is open to the public now. After Normandy it was back to Paris where we stayed a few more days.

All those river cruises look great and seem to be a good bargain too.
We want to go again. Lucky you!
As far as I am concerned Tauck is the best! They seem a little pricey but everything is top shelf and there are no hidden costs. All tours are included and the whole boat won't be in the same giant motor coach. They break you up into smaller groups. Went from Budapest to Amsterdam one trip and then Bucherest/ Black Sea to Budapest another year. Their ships were new in 2010 or so. They are on the web at www.tauck.com Any questions email me directly.
