I bought a fiberglass speedster shell and a box of parts from a guy in July 2007. I figured a couple weekends in my driveway and I would have a fun car to run around with. Well you all know the story, weeks turn into months and years, I can sure tell why there are so many unfinished kit cars out there! So anyway finally in October 2013 I got it running and driving, even went through the SB100 process. It wasn't that big a deal.

Well now it needs bodywork, paint, interior and MORE POWER! I'm posting because I'm looking for a couple things:

A dash eyebrow (can be bad condition I'm going to recover it anyway) and a VDO tach,3-3/8, 7000rpm any condition as long as it works.

Let me know what you have and how much you want,

Thanks, Chris

Chris!

Nice job and yes, it ALWAYS takes 10X the time to complete these kits (and were you surprised at how much "kit" stuff didn't fit?)

Anyway, if no one comes up with an eyebrow on here, you can call the guys at MG Magic.  They supposedly bought out the CMC parts stash when CMC "dissolved the company" (only to turn around and start StreetBeasts).

MG Magic Inc., An ASPAC Inc Company
5722 S Flamingo Rd
Ft. Lauderdale, Fl 33330
Phone: 954-680-2010
Fax: 954-680-0122

I'm not sure, but I remember something being said on here about them selling their stock to someone else - Wolfgang might know.

Also, those dash eyebrows are the same for all of the cars, so if you get desperate you could call Vintage or Beck to see if they'l sell one.  They can't be too expensive, but they're unique.

Good luck!

Couple years ago I read the CA take over and a web site.  The old FL seller (in Hollywood, FL) mailed out "on request" paper lists of parts.  There is a CA web site now (don't see Speedster parts though) - http://mgmagic.homestead.com/ and there is a second site too (no location mentioned) - http://www.mgmagicclassicmotorparts.com/about-us/ with some Speedster parts like a new windshield for $295.

If you look on ebay there is a FL seller with lots of parts listed (sure its same guy or relative) - under seller of JBTRADES. He has had the complete 3 piece dash eyebrows for $109.

It would be a simple piece to replicate out of wood.  You could laminate (glue) couple pieces of plywood, cut brow, and round off with a belt sander. It would hold screws and the vinyl stapled to it better than the rubber one. I'd be willing to trace my rubber piece to get you started - if you post photo of finished product.

Some parts like the windshield seem quite reasonable.  A new front hood will set you back $295 for inner piece and $395 for outer - $700.

I like the following plaque listed for $16.95 -

Chris: Neat car! Love the wheels. The patina you have there can't be faked. You have to earn it. What does the interior look like? Seats? Looks like there is a high back something or other in there now. What motor are you running? what's supplying your stopping power?

Gordon: send me the template from your eyebrow, I'll laminate one up when I have time. I did all the lamination on my Teardrop trailer. After wrangling that aluminum basketball the eyebrow will be straight forward. I'm 90% sure i have the birch ply already in the garage. If it's not too much of a pain, also include where the screw holes/mounting hard points should be. I can epoxy hard points into the back so the screws don't pull out of the end grain on the ply wood.

I'd measure mine, but it's already on the car. I suppose I could get the exterior shape, but not the 'foot print' where is meets the dash.

Just throwing it out there,

Ted

Thanks for all the comments about the patina,  that's why I'm looking for used parts. Actually it kind of looks like an old ex racecar. Interior is lacking all I have is a single 914 seat, a VDO speedometer and several idiot lights, I would love to get a set of those new VDO instruments from Beck.

Power is from a stock 1600 with dual 40 Dellortos, runs good but not a rocket.

For stopping I have AC Industries wide 5 disc's in the front and drums in the rear.

I built so many billet aluminum parts because I couldn't bring myself to do some of the stuff called out in the CMC Build Manual.  I've had the body on and off so many times I've lost count!

Gordon, if I could get a copy of that eyebrow template I would really appreciate it.

Thanks,

Chris

Sorry, guys, but I never said I had a template.  My dash eyebrow has been covered in vinyl and mounted to the dash for over 15 years, now......

Best bet for a new one would be ebay, I think.

Ha, that was my mistake! I had Gordon on the brain. I needed to ask him a question regarding adjusting my lowered front end via the avis adjusters.

Sorry Wolfgang!
