Does anyone know what the length is of a stock clutch cable from a 1973 Beetle? The great guys at Vintage are going to make me a shortened cable to fit my Fiat but I don't know what the original length is.

I shortened the frame approx. 16" but I need to know the stock length to subtract that from and order the new cable.

Any help? Sure could use some.

Thanks !

1972-1979= 2281mm. According to random Samba member Habs24x (Mark)

Ashman40 confirms:

Clutch cables from the cip1.com site:

VWC-111-721-335 - CLUTCH CABLE - BEETLE 50-60 / GHIA 56-60
VWC-111-721-335-A - CLUTCH CABLE 2250MM - BEETLE 1961 / GHIA 1961
VWC-113-721-335-A - CLUTCH CABLE 2260MM - BEETLE 62-71 / GHIA 62-71
VWC-111-721-335-C - CLUTCH CABLE 2281MM - BEETLE 72-4/74 / GHIA 72-4/74
VWC-111-721-335-E - CLUTCH CABLE 2268MM - BEETLE 5/74-79 / GHIA 5/74
PERFECT ! ! !

Thanks SO much, gonna order up the little guy this afternoon.

How about e-brake cables? Think that the little set-screw fastened cable ends would work OK, or should I find a source for shortened versions of those cables as well?

Anyone using ether "solution?" Any opinions? Lemme know, would you?

So two set screws it is then. It's gotta be better than just the one, and I'll only use the e-brake for state inspections. I'm putting in a steering brake and a line lock as well, so I have some options when it comes to stupid driving tricks that I'd normally use the e-brake for.

Thanks for the tip/help! Another problem solved.

Just now came in from doing the last of the welding on the chassis, stood up to a LOT of sledging on the welded seams. Strong enough for me . . . Strong as a Mule, looks like Ass.
