I assume that you don't really know who built the car or when it was built. Lots of CMC's sat around in someone's garage for long periods of time.

I suggest that you contact customs again to see what is required in lieu of a statement of construction by the manufacturer, e.g., maybe a notarized letter from the builder would suffice as proof. It may be easier to see what's accepted, then reverse-engineer the result.
I imported my Speedster from the US to Canada last Fall. The Canuck border people were typically lame compared to a US counterpart (hate to use that comparison ) and will sometimes rely on very little info other than WHAT DID YOU PAY FOR IT SO WE CAN CHARGE YOU MAXIMUM TAX ON IT. Be aware that you must successfully EXPORT the vehicle from the US before you can IMPORT it into Canada. That alone takes good paperwork before entry can even be considered. My paperwork was tighter than a ducks ass and all went pretty smoothly. The US side was more helpful / sympathetic than the Canuck side. Speedsters are rare in Canada and thus sell for a good buck when people are ready to let go of one. I considered many options including bringing in a self "dismantled" unit but found that bargain out in Idaho just at the right time.
does anyone know what the regualtion for the state of Florida is concerning kit car or porsche speedsters?
