My old style IM rear deck hinges are no longer available and I could use a new pair or will have to repair the existing ones. They look like the pic attached. It may be possible that something from a Vintage or Beck might do. Anyone got pics of their deck lid hinges they could sent to me dwstroud at xplornet.com or post here for a looksee ? Thanks...

Yup. Those are the same as CMC / Vintage - ours don't have the IM casting. As I understand it, the casting was were on early models and later dropped. If you can salvage what you have, that might be cool!

If its just the pivot pin hole worn, just have it welded up and redrill it.... Probably cheaper in the long run...
Thanks, Lads. The car was in an accident, Leon. One hinge is broken in half and the other is bent. These are cast pieces and if one is bent but not broken, perhaps it can be straightened in a press. The other will need welding and less straightening. Not sure how cast aluminum will weld.
I'd rather buy something and just install it right now. A pic of a Vintage hinge would be helpful...then we need to measure the bolt pattern. Perhaps they can be bought pre-drilled ? I'll try to call Vintage tomorrow and see if I can get through.
Thanks.

Exactly what I needed....thanks, Jim !
David the VS is not pre-drilled .... ~Alan
A good welder can correct both.
Love the quality of the VS compared to the (my) CMC. Interesting that this topic came up because mine are hitting the doghouse (as some have said) so I'm looking at remaking them to look like the original 356 arms which had what looks like more clearance for the shroud. Some aluminum plate, a few IPAs, voila!
Hinges hitting the dog house = mounting plates were installed too low or, the pan was assembled a couple degrees off from absolute horizontal causing the frame horns to rise up a bit which raises the motor position in the motor bay. Plenty of meat on the hinges to simply reshape them. I also have a template available to fabricate narrow hinges to solve that issue too. ~Alan
David,
Here is a picture of my CMC hinges that I modified to tuck in a little tighter and raise the lid a little higher above the rear of the car. I cut and welded the ends to change the geometry a little. No problems with welding.

Purdy James!
Nice!
BTW, I have one of my CMC hinges sitting on the counter. I can trace and mail if it helps.
Thanks, Boothy. repair attempt is underway. If not satisfactory I'll get a pair from Vintage.
Al, I will be glad to get more pics. Do you want them from inside or outside? I have changed the outer skin, I now have a louvered decklid from Carey.

Got my original hinges out of the welding shop today and couldn't be more happy. $25 cash is all they'd take. Wow...!

It would be nice to see what it looks like from the outside with the lid closed. And thanks in advance...Al
PS- Nice job David!
I went ahead and took pics from inside and out. You can tell that I just moved the hinge point further up under the back deck in order to get the lid to open a little higher. This required making new inner brackets and welding an extension to the lid brackets.

David - Now polish paint off the IM lettering --- a little added bring under hood.

That would be a nice touch Wolf, but one of the castings had to be welded back together and letters NIC got buggered thru necessary welding.
