Well, I just bought my 3rd Speedster yesterday. It is an unfinished body only that was apparently made (by who knows who) for a MetalCraft or custom tube chassis (it has a fiberglass tunnel and floorboards) It also uses aluminum for some fair amount of the structual parts, the subframe is steel. I will post some photos when I get the thing to the house. It is in primer now but has been a finshed body at one time or another as it has holes for all the mounting hardware and they have been used.

The bad news is the car needs a grill, (has a Carerra engine cover), seats, all the interior, most of the metal hardware etc. I am going for the outlaw look so I will not need all the metal parts but will need door handles, headlamps, a steering column, and a bunch of yet to be considered stuff. I think I will need a top frame also....all the metal parts are yet to be located and we all know how that goes when you buy a pig in a poke....

I think I have a conventional VW chassis located that will require shortening unless someone knows of a MetalCraft chassis someplace?

So, what do you all have tucked away that might be of assistance in this little boondoggle? Photos to follow for certain. I am aware of places to buy all this stuff new, just rather clean out basements and attics if you have stuff that will work....and I might as well invest in your stuff rather than the stock market anyhow.....

I was wrong about the subframe being steel. Now that it is home and I can look at it in sunlight I can report all the frame, hinges, mounting brackets, etc is AL. I can pretty well lift the whole body myself....I am guessing it to be under 250 pounds. And yes, light is better than heavy. I have a 1400 pound Spyder now and a few hundred pounds lighter makes a very big difference in performance.....
