Luke, Sorry dude, I have been looking for one of these for a long time....I can always replace MR356 a lot easier than the Ghia....

Actually it's a completely different experience having the Ghia, you are more of a caretaker with something that old, and the history is also involved. With the Speedster your more of a sportier/driver type. If you know what I mean....It's just a whole different trip.

Caretaker - that's quite true. One of the fellows (Oregon guy) on the Pelican site just sold what I believe is the finest "survivor" 1972 911S that is in existence. Nearly perfect and completely original. He owned it for many many years and undoutedly the car is worth a large sum of money. But he sold it for much less than its value. He sold the car to the next person whom he knew well, trusted completely and that he has complete faith will be the next "caretaker" in this car's life history. When he disclosed this information to the board, alot of people were taken aback by his actions. Here's what he said:

"My car is going where it will end up forever out of the hands of those who know the price of everything and the value of nothing."

I believe Vince that you know the value of that Ghia.

God, I'm gone 2 days and there is more than 200 posts to read....
Can't do it....Whatever I missed, I missed.....
YES, I did buy the Ghia, it was NOT as good as advertised, but the problems are all small ones.....
The body is pretty straight, no bondo that I could detect with a magnet, nose looks great, front and rear lids perfect. new paint (right color), rebuilt 1600 with progressive Weber, the engine compartment leaves a little to be desired, but no rust, new interior, none of the gauges work, new top.....all the glass is good, wide 5's but need paint to match body.....dropped spindles, front tires suck, all in all, I was a little disappointed but nothing I can't fix.......
having it shipped in the next few weeks.....
current plan is to sell the Harley, and keep the speedster till the Ghia is a dependable driver for our summer runs, but I will put a sign on the seat at Paso if someone is serious about buying....
I'm just not real motivated to sell MR356 right away.....
Vince...glad to hear you bought the car...but selling your Harley??? you can't do that!!!
In all honesty I wanted to buy a convertible Ghia but we could never find one here in CA that didn't have rust or smell of cigarettes and I just gave up and bought the Speedster instead... so now I'm really jealous, I would love to see it someday.....good luck.~Esther
Great! Now throw away that progressive carb. The purist in me says get a 36 hp motor and restore the whole thing to factory specs but if you like the increased hp of a 1600 just get it optimized with dual carbs, etc. I guarantee you won't be the ugly duckling; that is an uber cool car....
GERD....I didn't know what a dunce cap was so I looked it up...

A dunce cap also known as a dunce hat, dunce's cap, or dunce's hat, is a tall conical hat. In popular culture, it is typically made of paper and often marked with a D, and given to schoolchildren to wear as punishment for being stupid or lazy......

DO YA STILL WANT ONE?????? JUST CHECKING :)
