Need to know the tube diameter of most commercially available nerf bars. I never liked the stock ones as the curves don't match the body's contours, which are different front and back. Just not sure what size tube looks right.

One inch or inch and a half. The 1.5 sort of obscures the bracket so it's not so noticeable. I have seen a set with 3/8" slots cut in them with red LED light strips inside that light up with the brake lights. Looked pretty cool and I think a little more light in the rear is a good thing...............Bruce
These are some cool nerf bars! I found this pic online when I was considering nerf bars and may still try making some.

Who needs nerf bars with that ankle banger exhaust tip on the gray/black car?
Don't I know it! I hit Bruce's megaphone with my shin in 2008 and I think it STILL hurts!
And that's why it's called a "stinger"!
Mine are kind-of delicate looking compared to most - maybe 3/4" diameter solid steel rod shaped similarly to the body contour. Once the bend was right I got them welded to the brackets and then sent off to be chromed. They don't attract nearly as much attention as those big 1-1/2" diameter tube-style.
