David, depending on the cam in your engine, the total elimination of back pressure can be a bad thing. If overlap is present, the lack of back pressure may cause unburned fuel to pass through your exhaust system before it's burned for energy. (at almost $4.00 per gallon, that's a bad thing)

It can also cause a severe drop in low end torque and raise the torque curve to a level that makes the car unpleasent to drive

Racing headers vs street exhaust are 2 different things. Most race cars lack bottom end power becasue they're running mid to upper range RPM's and as such, the exhaust is tuned for their RPM operating range.

(Watch most race cars when they leave the pit, they have to race the engine and light up the tires or they will stall the engine)
OK - GOTCHA! I'm not very good at this stuff. The picture is of some excess 3 inch steel tubing left over from another job. I hung them up with some rope and took a picture. It woulda looked way better with 4 inch tubing for sure. More eloquent writing woulda helped too. I'm outta here.
