This isn’t the first time that someone joins this forum to immediately ask a direct question about Vintage Az.  Others that did this were never heard from again.

So this is in no way helpful to the question I originally asked. I’m looking for assistance in making an informed choice. Not some kind of hierarchical snobbery. What you don’t know about me is a lot of things, and what I’d like to know is more about VS Arizona. Why because I like to know how to spend my money, and after just a few searches I found my way to this forum. Which had some interesting threads, about them. What I’m looking for is substance.

The three best companies with good build quality & fantastic customer support are ( in no particular order) ....Intermeccanica Vancouver, Canada (Henry) .  Beck in Bremen, IN (Carey) and Vintage Motorcars (Greg) Hawaiian Gardens, California, these three currently have a good number of customer orders in que.

I’m aware of these companies, and what they do, and how they differ. I’m asking specifically about Vs Arizona.

Aren't all looking at a near 2 yr wait now?  As with other new non-Speedster cars delayed in delivery (chip shortages/factories closed/shipping snafus) the used market has gone up in price.  Same applies to Speedster builds.

Yes everything is delayed but that’s not really what I’m asking about. I’m just wanting to no why or why not VS Az.

That business has changed hands a couple times in the last few years. That's the reason for no response, nobody really knows.

The response given is not some kind of "hierarchical snobbery". The response is about sending you to people with a known and LONG good history of delivering good cars with great customer service.

Do a couple searches, look for "JPC".

I made valid suggestions based on decades of past knowledge of many herein, but as a newbie you choose to cop an attitude. I'm sure that I am not alone is saying "May you wallow in your own snobbery " as you so graciously put it.

@Former Member

Vintage of AZ doesn't have a long history.   If I remember correctly, they bought the operations of a California based company that was often confused with another California company of similar name, then moved it to AZ.

The problem is that without a proven track record (and even with one), there is uncertainty about their business.

For example, a company called Seduction Motorsports was putting out some really nicely built Spyder replicas, then one day they just disappeared and most everyone in the queue took a hit.  They had a relatively short life span, but they quickly got a good reputation for quality builds. Then vanished like a fart in the wind.

And then there is Specialty Autosports, that  was putting out really nice 356 replicas until he just appeared to stop, leaving more than a few people still waiting (some for many years), and out their deposits.  And worse, still taking deposits from people who, unfortunately, don't know all the facts.

I'm not saying Vintage of AZ is bad, or that they are good... We just don't know.

What we do know is that you are most likely to experience good customer service if you stick with Intermeccanica, Beck/Special Edition and Vintage Motorcars.

Please reread DannyP's response.  Vintage of Arizona has changed hands a couple of times in the last few years. Why don't you seek out owners of their cars specifically and directly? You may not find many of them on this site as the latest change in ownership was recent. Perhaps they could provide you with referrals to their customers directly, as a start.

DrClock  offered you some other builders to consider as you may not be aware of your alternatives, how evil and misleading of one of the most respected and knowledgeable members on the forum to try and help you. He is deserving of being targeted with your wrath! After all, you have been a member of the forum for nearly 24 hours.

I don't know anything about you other than what you reveal in your posts, and frankly, based on that, I don't want to. You seem to have a sense of entitlement that demands we all scramble to provide you with finite answers to an open ended question  and in a prescribed format and manner that you have telepathically transmitted to us. Bad start, Doug!

We tend to behave like ladies and gentlemen on this site most of the time. Doing so might get you more cooperation. The alternative may end up getting you ignored and blocked.

By all means, do as you see fit.

Stan is probably correct in his recommendation.

Is it possible that "Former Member" works for or owns Vintage AZ and is fishing by asking specific leading questions ?

Why is it that not many cars come out of Vintage AZ ?  Why is it that Vintage AZ quit buying accessories from me 7 months after they opened ? Why is it that not many people have Vintage AZ cars on this site ?  Why is it that others have asked the same questions  on this site ?  Maybe Casper is sowing air filed seeds !................Bruce

If by chance @Former Member you are legitimately looking for help, I would advise you a few things.

1. First do some independent research to determine if VS Az is still legitimately in the business selling cars.  The more recent discussions I’ve seen put this point at least a bit in question, and to my knowledge nobody has offered clear evidence or conviction one way or the other.  Maybe you have already determined they are in fact in business (and by that I mean of actually building and delivering cars, not operating a website and taking deposits) in which case you can make your first contribution and enlighten us with what you’ve learned.  That would be sweet.

2. The fine folks on this forum are a great many things, the foremost being an invaluable technical resource on all things 356-replicas.  Many members have built their cars from parts, many perform significant upgrades and repairs themselves on these cars, and many have bought newly built complete cars from one of several companies who build them.  Some will take their cars to the track.  So yes there is a lot of amazing talent and knowledge here (which surprisingly covers the topic of pies), but I suspect you would most like to hear directly from anyone who bought their replica from VS Az.  I can’t say I recall seeing many folks who are active on this forum who are driving VS Az cars, so that might be a tall ask.  Many members may have an opinion about VS Az, but just understand the folks who don’t drive a VS Az car may hesitate offering advice, especially if their opinion is not positive and is based on secondhand information.  (There was one member who claimed to own  a VS Az speedster and posted some very nasty things about his car and about VS Az.  Pure vitriol.  The more he ranted the clearer it became he was a giant tool so it was hard to take him seriously.)

3.  If you think of this site, and myself of all people, as snobbish, then I would ask you to try something.  Become a member of a Porsche forum.  I suggest a Porsche 356 forum.  Go there and offer that you have a great interest in buying a replica speedster, and be sure to tell them you plan to display Porsche badges.  And then ask them for advice on VS Az.  You will likely receive a second snobbery data point to help you evaluate this forum (and me) on the snob scale.  Seriously, please do this.

We can be a forgiving group.  We all wish you the best of luck, and please tell us how it works out for you.

FYI, everyone, @FloridaDoug now displays @Former Member because they deleted their account.   I'm really not sure how they took offense to the comment
"This isn’t the first time that someone joins this forum to immediately ask a direct question about Vintage Az.  Others that did this were never heard from again."

Except just as @Jon T pointed out @Florida Doug immediately asks a question, then disappeared. That wasn't an attack or snobbery, just a point that this seems to happen only with Vintage Speedster in AZ lately.

They then post "I’m aware of these companies, and what they do, and how they differ. I’m asking specifically about Vs Arizona."

Just such a strange way to act when you would think a brand new member collecting information on a large purchase would want to know about all manufacturers.  Not sure how they learned about all the others if they are really that new to the industry.

And don't believe the VS AZ web site which says -

Largest manufacturer of Speedsters with over 3300 produced. Transferred to new ownership in 2017

That claim was for the old VS when it was based in California.  Workers who produced those cars were left behind and many now work for VM in California.

Do check out STARKE Motors in same AZ city.  They produce a Speedster from a Porsche Boxster donor!

I read this just after the first few posts, and when I read the attitude in the Commandment given for us to help him, as if anyone that posts deserves to be answererd.  I had my response all typed and decided to not get sucked in to the

a) either fishing for disparaging info, or info to use against us

I figures he might be a shill so I just passed on the obvious puerile, pick a fight attitude and continue to a more pleasant post.

There is no established base of customers from Vintage of AZ. All we can report is the business was well run and had a good reputation when it was in Hi. Gardens. In in the process of selling the business a lot of hard working and skilled craftsmen were screwed. That owner move nothing other than the business license to AZ as far as I know the rest was left or sold to Greg. New owners surface with lots of fanfare and promise. I do not know of one car they have delivered. Hence no response to New Member. I think as a group we fulfilled or obligation nicely. If you do not want to wait for a new car buy a used one now. I am always willing to accept offers. I just had angle surgery so I am highly venerable right now. My car is in storage.
