Well... All seems to be working... mostly works anyway. I wanted to thank you guys for helping me getting going. I guess I need to buy a different speedometer cable. It's all tight and not too bent up behind the speedo... and nothing. It seems to me that the cable is fairly short just looking at the back of the speedo where the threads are. Do I need to buy a special cable to fit the Beck/VS style aftermarket speedo's? My old cable was a little jumpy, so a new one won't hurt my feelings. Thanks a ton guys.

If you mounted your speedo to the left then a std bug cable will fit - if its to the left you need a longer bus (T2) cable.
Thanks.... what is interesting, is that it worked fine with the VDO gauge
Wolfgang has a slight typo up above. Speedo on the left uses a stock beetle sedan cable.
Speedo on the right needs a longer bus cable for a nice, easy bend going up to the dash. Here you go:
The pan is a 71 Super, so I ordered a cable for a 71 Super... We will see!!
Super beetle is also 4 inches longer
OK... Had a bad ground that was causing me trouble... I have everything working now except the horn and wiper motor... I got too tired. Damn bad ground was the majority of my problem this whole time. I have not really been working hard on the project, but piddling on it. The new gauges look neat... The lights look neat at night too. For some reason my speedo is not working. It's damn hard to see back there, but is it a possibility that the cable nut on the VDO is different than on a stock VW? I'll look more into it tomorrow.
