Rusty,

Looks great!

What is the slight modification needed for the adapter?

Jeff

The 6 hole bolt pattern is for Momo (2.75 dia.). If you are like me and have a Nardi adapter then the 6 bolt pattern is 2.875 diameter. I elongated the holes by 1/16 of and inch and it fits perfectly onto the Nardi hub adapter.

I see that they are sold out of the steering wheel. Another option would be to buy the same steering wheel with the Triumph Spitfire hub and horn button for $80 bucks more then just use the steering wheel. And... although there is not a picture of the horn button it is indeed the same stock that was selling for $369 at Stoddards and Sierra Madre Collection.

I have had my eye on this setup for a couple of years but until now it was too cost prohibitive. Classico wanted $800 for their version plus another $150 for the hub adapter and the horn button was $369. This setup was under $400 bucks!

Thanks to Rusty, i am looking forward to installing my new Derrington wheel. I believe that I ordered the last one soon after his post hit the forum, Like you, Rusty, i could not see myself spending $600 or more for a wheel. At this price, and with what I get for my old wheel, it is quite affordable. I'll post pics of the wheel and of my new door panels (not here yet) soon.

I really like that wheel. Would need to adapt it to the old school three-bolt Grant hub though--so a slight complication.

I think this would work:

And there are 9 steering wheels available as of this morning. Personally I would love to see more of these steering wheels on our cars. They are a vast improvement over the very common Nardi - Just my opinion.

I took my car out on Saturday morning behind the SJC school district building and tuned the carbs up and synced them. Then went on a nice run through the hills. With the new steering wheel I almost tricked myself into thinking I was driving a new Rod Emory car!

Jeff make sure you drill a small hole at the bottom of the adapter that will clear the nardi hub. You will need this to be able to push the horn button out. You'll see what I mean when you start assembling everything. I drilled mine at a 45 degree angle to fit a 2mm allen wrench. It's unnoticeable and it pops the horn button right out.

Also, if your setup is like mine then use some small split washers (I used three) on each of the six bolts to get the right height for the horn button.

Rusty,

I have all of my parts. Understand the need drill a hole in order to pop out the horn button and elongation of the holes for mounting the adapter to the . My question is what keeps the horn button in the wheel? It is not exactly a press fit.

Jeff

Rusty, Jeff---- could I trouble you for a close up picture of how the horn button is held in place in the wheel --- I'm assuming it's a press fit on the hub

I'm curious how the horn sits in the hub, in relation to he finishing ring bolted over the wheel. Is the horn flush with the ring or countersunk a little?

many thanks, luis
