Pat Downs makes some of the best turnkey motors out there. Last month I made the trip up to Farmersville to pick up my 2110cc turnkey. 145 horsepower on the engine dyno. Today is my first day of break in driving. I will update the information on the "Dyno runs" message thread.
Kelly - you are correctomundo! That extra HP would be fun, but I know myself too well and would get in trouble REEEEEAL fast if I had one. I got my SPEED-fix out of my system with the P-cars I had over the years. My favorite being my old '68 911S Targa with the engine blue-printed and tricked-out to '70 S specs. THAT was a fast ride! But then I digress...

Morten - you have a VERY NICE set-up there!

Peace - Out!
If everyone didn't already know it, Jim has figured this Speedster deal out. While everyone else is buying the latest trinket for their car, switching out tire sizes, re painting and yes, even switching engines Jim just keeps piling the trouble free miles on.

Jim has umpty-ump SEG miles on his car with no breakdowns, no searching for help on how to get it running again, no diagnosing wierd sounds or knocking, never missing an event due to lack of a car to drive---none of that at all. He just may be the world record holder for most miles driven in his Speedster. How does he manage this feat??? He doesn't screw with his car. He leaves well enough alone and just drives and enjoys it without the agony of defeat we read every day about here and on The Samba.

As Kirk told me---"quit fooling with it and just drive it!"

Jim figured that out years ago. Damned smart man, I'd say.
Cory--I laughed out loud--that was funny, but it's not Jim's style that has worked so well for him. This is why we enjoy El Guapo's company at Carlisle each year---he's not back home spending money on
new junk, he's using the bucks for travel.

Now Cory, where can I see some plans for that mid engined Type IV Spyder that you're talking about? (Just kidding-- that's for damned sure!)
Yeah, yeah, yeah -- yadda yadda yadda -- If you could, you would. Torque is addictive, while reliability is only nice. I think one can have a good measure of both. -- you know you want it . . .

And this much is crystal clear: amo El Guapo viejo, su coche muy bonito si muy despacio, y la senora muy guapa en el asiento derecho.

I had to work pretty hard on that one: high school Spanish was a LOOOOONG time ago.
