I just instaled a neat set or Euro lights I got off of ebay UK. They are made by Radyot. One fluted amber, one smooth clear. of course now that I got them mounted I found several photos showing the the amber and clear are usually mounted just the opposite of how I did!

I had those Raydot style Lights on a '57 Bug I had back in the 60's (6 volt, back in those days). The driving light is very similar to the Lucas "Flame Thrower" of that vintage and sent a beam down the road that was really bright and around two lanes wide at about 3/4's of a mile distance. Pretty impressive for that time.

The amber Fog light came in handy more than once when coming home in Pea Soup New England fog. Then I built the pan into a Dune buggy and the lights got lost in the process. Too bad, too. They were really good.

Hope you enjoy yours - they look pretty sharp!

Thanks for the compliments. I got the straps off a website in the UK, not sure which one but they were around $30 US shipped. They sold black, dark brown and tan. Found them in a web search for bonnet straps.

Yeah, I need to swap left and right lights. I looked for photos right before I put them on but no luck. A hour after the install I found plenty all showing the yellow light on the drivers side.

Ummm, the string bikini is actually the straps holding a plastic tarp under the car cover. We had a few heavy rains that found their way through the cover and the tonneau edges.

Looks better and the yellow lamp is more effective when directly in front of the driver. The wave length is less suseptable to variation in the log of the distance from lens to eye. It is really very intresting to study the optics. Of course it is very dependent upon the fluting of the lens and the wattage of the bulb. Kind of a inverse square of pi and the log of the wavelength.
Just swaped left for right on the lights so I follow the rules of physics now .

I checked the brand again and it is actually Raydyot.....two Y's

Busy gluing my carpet back down after having the shifter ,etc... out for work. The multiple clutch issues have worked themselves out and it's back on the road again. First thought was the shift bushing. Turns out that was the only think NOT wrong! Bowden tube came loose from the tunnel, cable was frayed and slipping, engine mounts were cracked and while apart I replaced the clutch too. It has a Scat short throw shifter now which is great fun. Getting up the nerve now to install the number "meatballs" on the doors and hood (ala Bruce Stump style) It should make for a cool site if we caravan up to Carlisle, with two "racing" Speedsters.

Best,
Tony

Yeah, you'll need driving lights down there for when the "Love Bugs" are out and black out the Sun!!

I pre-wired my car for both driving and fogs, but I can't think of a cool way of mounting them to make them look good with my Nerf bars \>(

Anyway, after Dale's placement treatis, the only way I can see to mount them is strictly in pairs; TWO driving lights (most likely, projectors), and TWO fog lights, amber or otherwise
;>)

And I STILL like the way Mike Cochrane mounted his driving lights......a pair of projectors would look good there!

Love those driving lights. Many years ago, coming home from the Colorado River on a hot Sunday night, where the freeway reduced from 3 lanes to 2, the traffic politely merging every other car. When my turn came to merge, the other guy decided he definitely needed to be in front of me. For the next 30 miles, until traffic thinned out, that guy got french-fried by my driving lights. I think his headliner was smoking when he finally was able to get out from in front of me. These days you'd probably get shot at, but I was younger then.
