My VS Fuel Sender Unit stopped working so I replaced it with a Karmann Ghia Tube Type sending unit (in an attempt to get rid of the gauge bouncing around all of the time). It works great.....except it reads backwards. When I fill up my tank, it reads empty and when my tank is empty it reads full.....what? Any suggestions from the group?

thinking the new float arm is 180 of where it should be, maybe take the floaty thing on sending arm and bend it the opposite way
Rick is absolutely correct!
Get a regular Beetle type sender(bend the float arm 180 degrees like the old one), then get in touch with @Gordon Nichols for one of his nifty(and inexpensive) gauge-needle-calmer-down-thingies.
That should do it.
Ghia sender Ohms are opposite ....
8 Ohms full & 80 Ohms empty ohms (I have one NEB & confirmed the Ohms)
Beetle senders are 72 Ohms empty and 10 Ohms full.
Might be able to cannibalize the Ghia sender and flip it internally. I have yet to visit that scenario though.
I have hooked up the electrical leads backwards and it read backwards. Have you tried reversing the leads?
Yeah, reversing the leads won't do squat. Resistance is resistance, polarity doesn't matter.
Pay attention to Alan's post two above this one.
Karmann sender works with VDO gauges
Yeah, I have had no problem with the KG sender & my 914 fuel gauge.

I’m assuming you meant to say “Beetle senders are 72 Ohms full and 10 Ohms empty.”

Karmann sender works with VDO gauges
I guess it doesn't like my VS replica VDO gauges. I had read about other Speedster owners going this route with the tube type Ghia sender, but I guess it doesn't work in some situations. Maybe I'll leave it this way and just remember that E = F and F = E?
