Excellent! Welcome aboard. Where are you located?
Olympia Washington
Any pics 356 motor?
Nice stable of Speedsters you have parked in the garage. I think there are a few other members located near you.
Welcome To The Madness, Buster!
Two speedsters are better than one!
Welcome to the madness! ... Like with twins, may as well get all the sleepless nights out of the way at once ;-)
im in a Seattle.... down by Olympia a couple times a year, it's the traffic that kills me! There is a great VW speedshop down there.
cheers
Very nice! What size is the VW engine? Do you know what's in it? Anything done to the 356 engine? Are the cars drums all around, discs in front or discs front and back? Al
Thanks for the welcomes try to answer as many questions as I can here in one post. The silver 57 has the 1958 356 motor and trans on a 68 vw chassis body by beck, has drum brakes, the red 55 has 69 chassis disc brakes in front and drop spindles. The motor is a 1600 and has dual jugs. We are actually in Yelm but figured most people would know where Olympia is more than Yelm. 20 minute drive from everywhere, lol. Here are pics of both the motors.

Is the transaxle in the silver car a 356 vintage as well? VW or 356 (A/B?) drums? (C's had discs, I believe?) Do you know if the VW 1600 has a mild cam, or is it stock? If it goes to 5,000rpm or more with power it's not stock. Stock or ported heads?
And yes, with 2 cars.....
WELCOME TO THE MADNESS!!!
Ps- I noticed in the silver car the engine is open to the ground, unlike the 1600 which is sealed off from the exhaust heat and spent cooling air- ever any problems running hot with the 356 engine?
Vw drums on silver, has never overheated nor gave me problems. I just got the 55 this week I know it is not a stock engine. I havn't dug into it enough to give you more info on the red engine
