Hi everyone,

My name is John and I'm from the UK. I'm about to start the build of a Porsche 356 replica. I'm building a Chesil Speedster (www.chesil.biz for anyone interested) and plan to document the build on my website - www.chesilbuild.co.uk. Hopefully it might be of some use to someone at some point!

I've ordered the chassis and am collecting it on Friday and can't wait to start adding to it. I've already bought a vintage Blaupunkt radio, probably the last thing to be added but I couldn't miss out on it!

Just thought I'd introduce myself and say hello.

Cheers,

John

Welcome to the Madness!
There have been quite a few builds documented here, and they're all fun to watch.
Make sure you have a look at the tabs up top - everything from how-to to cars in film.
There haven't been a whole lot of Chesils featured here, so feel free to add to the knowledge section with whatever you come across!
I can't wait to see what you come up with. How complete is the car now? Are you starting from a pan, a rolling chassis or pieces?
Thanks for the welcome and for the tips.

We are only very early in the process so far and I've been finding all the necessary parts. Chesil use a shortened VW pan. We decided to start with a bare chassis/pan and build it with all new parts (where possible) from there. We opted for an IRS version which has just been jig shortened and painted at the factory and is ready for collection at the weekend.
Thanks for the message Jim, I'm sure it will progress slowly, slowly but surely! I've searched the forum a few times and it has a lot of handy tips which I'm sure will be invaluable.

This is the second car we've built so have an idea of the pitfalls etc so hopefully it will come together as planned.

John
