it took only 7500 miles for the stock 1915 from vintage to go the way of the dodo. So i ordered a 2387 motor from anibol chico @ cpr. it was built with midrange power in mind. the dyno sheet shows 171 H.P. @ 4800 RPM. it has the usual stuff.
forged dpr crank and rods,
3.5 qt. sump,
wiesco pistons,
44 webers,
42 X 35.5 heads fully ported and CC'd,
125 cam w/straight cut gears,
1.25 rockers,
kennedy stage 2 clutch,
unilight dizzy,
serentine belt system,
ceramic coated headers,
silver powder coated tin. this baby should wake up the speedster just a little. pics are in my files. they would not load to my post.

Jerry, from what I've seen the guys at Chico Performance know what they're doing. By any chance, did you find out the origin of the parts inside the dead 1915 cc and what exactly happened to it? I'm wondering because more than likely the innards in my 1776 VS are exactly what you had....My odometer reads a little bit over 3,000 mi. and I maintain it meticulously; I hope it doesn't explode in a while but if that happens I know I'll be putting together an engine kit from Gene Berg.

Your new powerplant looks good...what's the purpose of the serpentine doohickey? Anyway, just make sure you don't have any fitment issues with the exhaust system. Enjoy!!
Hi Ricardo: The serpentine belt is pretty much impervious to slipping at high revs. and you don't need to mess with any spacers as the idler is easy to adjust. and does not impart undue pressure on the bearings. The new motor is still in route. so the old one is still in the car. my 1915 never did run correctly. i installed new carbs, new carb linkage new vac dizzy, compression test. it didn't use oil. everything tested ok. but still ran like dog doo. the shop is going to do a post mortum on the V.S. anchor after the swap.
Jerry, sorry to hear about your trouble. For some reason I thought you had a type4 in that car?? Hope the new engine fairs a little better, it can be a real hassle putting a new one in, but I think your doing the safe thing buy just starting over and not monkeying around with that one. I once made the mistake of not just starting over and it was a royal hassle to finally get the engine right.
Thanks Mr Raby. That is high praise coming from the competition.
and romeo i hope your e-mail user name is not a statement about your choice in undergarments. Steve o i wish i had a raby type 4 with a set of nickies, that would be a kick ass motor.
I'll post more pics after the speedsters heart transplant.
