I spent yesterday afternoon visiting with a new member of this forum. Dan recently posted that he bought an unbuilt CMC Speedster kit that was sitting in Louisville. I believe he said he paid $3000.00 for the kit. Since I live 20 miles west of Louisville I contacted him and found we had met over 20 years ago while involved in local Auto-X events. He had a Porsche 911 and I a modified 73 914. Dan is planning on building the kit and is in the process of looking for a donor beetle with IRS rear suspension. I took some pics of his unassembled Speedster during the visit. Thanks Dan for having me over and good luck on the build.

Just 40 hours away .
Totally unmolested for 30+ years! Wonder how many are out ther like that!
Here's a Super chassis on SAMBA in KY - you'd have to weld in the front STD beetle section first though. No mention of title.
I wonder if Acme Car Co might have a suitable chassis for sale.
ACME shows their product at Carlisle. They'd have to custom make length for a CMC body. Their normal chassis are $2400 plus core charge for a rear torsion tube. You'd still need front beams w/suspension parts, steering box/column, petal assembly plus rear suspension and transmission plus shifter mechanism. A crusty VW chassis saves time/$ - especially if it has a valid title.
Since KY it is just one state over from me, I sent Dan an email this AM . we're talking ~~
Does ACME still offer rocket skates? I always wanted a pair.
This is a build definitely worth following.
Jim,
With you - if you get some from ACME be sure to get the quick release straps because I heard sometimes the ride ends with a bang...
