Welcome to the madness, Mike. I've been building VW air cooled stuff since the late 1960's and Speedsters since the early 1990's.

Speedster owners anywhere on this continent are the best folks anywhere. I'm sure you'll enjoy both the car and your new-found friends on here and other Speedster/VW sites (as soon as your rain ends). We're a great bunch.

Where are you located? Maybe we can get some cruises going near you to join up with other Speedster/Spyder members so you can meet new folks and swap Speedie stories!

Have you mastered the search function yet? It took me awhile. There are some great older posts. With a vast amount on knowledge buried in them due to a SOC phenomenon called Thread drift. its way fun.
WARNING
You will spend hours reading late into the night, your Wife will glare at you, your pets/children will be neglected, you will master small Speedster details that no one else (but us) will care about. Thats why most say

Finally arrived at 10:30 last night. Started right up and ran beautifully for the rides with my son and more importantly with my wife. It looked perfect in the moonlight and under the 60 watt bulb in the garage. I am very anxious for my day to end so I can get home and start figuring out what I have. Will register myself and post pictures after my original exploration.
