Hey THERON…, how’s about at least bringing back all of the text that was attached to this thread originally from SPEEDSTEROWNERS.COM

I also see various Threads prior to this car site and that links and or text files are missing…, well this EVER be fixed?

Anyway Oliver, consider raising just the rear of your transmission by a 1”, this will give you 2” of clearance at the muffler.

Yes this pic of my car is high centered on blue cable guard cover of my car lift…, this is just for grins and giggles. I’m not planning to drive it at this height. But you’re car is an inspiration, keep up the good work!

David- Do you know there is a first page to this thread? And to anyone considering the trans/motor raise, while it's a great way to lower the car and maintain running gear clearance, make sure there is enough room for the fan shroud and carbs/air cleaner assemblies. My pan was cut by the guy who did Intermecannica's pans and the deck lid may need to be clearanced slightly to fit the aftermarket 36 hp shroud and I'm not sure yet about what air cleaners will fit on the IDF's and Berg manifolds...

ya - i have a T4 and i literally have NO room front to back or side to side engine clearance.  by no room, i mean less than a centimeter on the passenger carb and less than an inch on the alt nut. (yes, my brain works in imperial and metric. )

Oliver, I lowered my Speedster until the rear tires hit the ceiling of the fender.  In fabricating this mess the problem I ran into was the type 4 Tangerine exhaust would have been on the ground. It has two exhaust runners that cross under the transmission.

Only by good timing I located an old NOS Treuhaft 1.625” type 4 exhaust out of Daytona Beach for $125, It’s a 4 into 1, but it exists out the rear instead.

Anyway to get some alternator clearance I pushed the IRS transmission 2.75” forward for better weight transfer and engine bay room front to back. Yes…, I’ll be cutting the firewall out and reglassing this to clear the front of the shroud. On your type 4, to make the engine a little skinnier you can use short reversible manifolds and a Sync-Link from Jake.  Ahnendorp (linked below) sells just the manifolds. For as many motors the Jake Rabys firm has assembled, ask them about making the engine thinner, First!

I’ve included this Ghia engine pic with “Riechert short type 4 manifolds” w/Jenvey’s. Note the air cleaner height in relationship to the top of the shroud. I’ll stop by and measure the width of this engine tonight.

The rear of the Speedster transmission is to be raised 2” to get the ground clearance I want. Envision a raked car…, that’s what the engine well look like in the bay. I’ll end up getting one of Jakes V2 dtm’s and sell the V1 I have and relocate the oil cooler.

First off in the previous post, I said Oliver, I meant Mango. I’m sure you characters understand the Freudian slip.

MangoSmoothie quote: ya - i have a T4 and i literally have NO room front to back or side to side engine clearance.  by no room, i mean less than a centimeter on the passenger carb and less than an inch on the alt nut. (yes, my brain works in imperial and metric. )

Mango and or Oliver the engine width taken on the carburetors / air cleaners is 31.375”.

A 0.5” in front of the valve cover, on the head at the intake manifold to the top of the manifold is 4.4”, to the top of the air cleaner is 11.375”.
