Methinks he is pulling your leg there, Mango. I see nothing but shadow in the wheel opening.

Flat tire?
Come on…, 2-3” extended rocker panels don’t count as low…, does look low at first glance though.
I asked this Q. early on in your first posts, with regards to your tire dia., but with the server failure we had, this is no longer posted…, so would you please give this again.
I put a 195/55/15 (22.5” Dia.) profile tire on the rear and when I let the air out of the suspension, the tire contacts the ceiling of the fender first, the frame/pan is still a 0.5” from bottoming, Is your pan on the ground?
David / dd-ardvark
David, i'm running 185-60's in the rear and don't have a issue with hitting the top of the inside of the fender. I am not as low as Oly's picture, but i'm VERY low. my header is 1cm off the ground.
soooo.... what colour?
I still can't believe you are building your car in a church.
Mango, never dispute the fact that Speedster ownership borders on being a religious experience!

Clear bra...
Giday, Oliver. Nice work, Amigo. I have what I think might be a Plasticon Hardtop that I'll be working onto my Speedster over the summer. The rear window opening is quite a bit like your's and at this point I don't know what glass to order for mine. My window opening is 38 1/2" x 10 1/8" center to center at the inside edge of the lip. Any chance yours is the same and if so could you pls. advise the year, make, model etc. for the window? Thanks...
damm you oly - your posts make me want to run home and do fabrication!
besides mangos car and a few others this is starting to be another one of my favorite builds.
ahr thanks guys ! Dave my rear window is a chopped beetle mate with poly cut to size
not glass unfortunately
In most states, provinces and countries, poly for rear windows is OK.
It just keeps getting better.
Mango, Ollie build off!
Thanks for that, Ollie. So, If you don't mind, could you advise on what ( hopefully stock type VW rubber trim ) is required " to grab the plastic window". 3/16" glass I'm thinking, yes/no ? I've never done this type of stuff before and I'd have to order the correct rubber from out of town. Thanks....
yep thats correct stock Vdub will do Dave
VERY NICE!!!
Looks perfect for car surfing.
i like the new spacing more.
Very cool!

Can ya just imagine "modern captions" for those ads, Rich ?
Remember this one...."Don't get any sand in your Schlitz " ? There was a young, scantily clad lady laying in the sand holding the bottle....I think they pulled the ad.
wow Rich interesting !did u get any free bees? what job did u do? how old do u think cooler is ? its gonna look cool on roof rack
great pics too
Ollie, yes, free beer (3 cases per month) was part of the perks. I was an art director/graphic designer/package designer and worked on the Miller Lite brand in addition to other brand responsibilities. I'm going to do a little checking for you on the cooler. Can you tell who the manufacturer is? How about dimensions? My guess is something from the 60's. Where did you come upon this cooler? Coincidentally, I was given a much newer version of this cooler as one of my retirement gifts ten years ago.

a recent eBay item going for $242 at the moment. It appears that these coolers are circa late 50's to '60's

i've seen that design. it only uses the top torsion adjuster. clever, but still a flawed design IMO.
punch drunk customs makes a beam like that on this side of the pond.

Oliver,
I just took a close look at your brother's chopped Beetle.
