I went up to the new racetrack in New Jersey today to watch a SVRA (Sportscar Vintage Racing Assc) event. WOW! What an awesome facility! The club I race karts with is racing there in Sept and I can't wait to get out on fresh asphalt.
It was really cool to watch all these vintage race cars. Lots of old P cars. Some guy had an Outlaw 356C, not racing, just there. It was a pretty neat looking car. He wasn't anywhere around so I couldn't ask him any ?'s but there was a 6 cyl engine, full cage, ect... it was track ready from the looks of it.
There were also some great old muscle cars like 70's vettes, 60's mustangs and others. And of course the old can-am style cars and a few old old open wheel formulas.
I rode my buddies Suzuki VS650 up with him and a few other guys on their bikes. Aside from one passing shower it was an awesome day! Vintage sports cars and motorcycles - does it get any better?

Mickey,
I have the oppurtunity to work any and all events. I am living the dream. Any events that you plan on participating in,let me know and we can hook up and I can give you a tour of the facility. Friday, I rode in the pace vehicle starting the First Enduro of the weekend. What a thrill to look in the mirror and see all of the cars lining up in position to race. I met the top guy for the SVRA, and spent time with him in the timing and scoring tower.
All you other guys,go to the Motorsports Park web site at www.njmp.com for a schedule of events coming up. Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series is next big race(8/28-8/31). I am particularly looking forward to the Vintage Air And Auto Show(9/20-9/21). Go to website for more details.
Woo-Hoo

Alan,
I'll be racing my kart Sept 5,6,7th at NJMSP. We're running on the Lighting track. I'm hoping to get up for the Rolex event, I want to see the Ferrari Challenge race! It all depends on my schedule and what I can squeeze in time wise, but I'll be there for sure for the kart race. I would LOVE a tour of the facility. The weather was crazy yesterday so we were pinched for time when it came to getting out of there (we were on bikes). So I didn't get a chance to go over to see the Lightening track or the kart facility. Let me know if you'll be around for the kart race.

Jim,
I'm planning on videoing the race there on my helmet-cam. I'll post the link so you can check it out. I've tried to video the last two races but apparently I SUCK at positioning the camera. The first race all you could see was my steering wheel and the right front tire. The second race I broke my gear hub in the second lap. Hopefully NJ will be a little more eventful, racing wise.
