I always forget to get out the video camera. We turned the engine over with the coil wire off until we got oil pressure and then plugged in the coil. I swear, it didn't make one complete revolution before it fired up.

We put the engine in my son's Baja to kind of use it like an engine stand. The Bugorama is next Sunday so I didn't want to pull the 1914 until after the races. There is always a few days of chasing leaks and carb adjustment, jetting etc. My wife will drive my little yellow 356 in Powder Puff. It's not fast, but it's reliable and this will  be her first time racing.

If I had to do it all over again, I'd get one of those CB kits. Everything is pretty much measured and set up so all you have to do is assemble it.

OK, I missed the few tells in the pics, but when I went back and looked more closely, I could find a few items that explain the genuineness of this remarkably beautiful car.  At first i thought: well, that's really nice paint and bee hives too, but who puts a 1500 in a Speedster these days??  He's gonna want a 2110 PDQ, I says.  Well, I guess NOT.  The good Doktor is the one who put 1500s in Speedsters, and so it shall be.  These just have to be show cars right?  Can't imagine just heading out to the pub for a few brewskis in this masterpiece.

Yeah, I keep doing research on the engine build and every time I go back to their kits. I can probably sell what I have in parts and start putting the funds towards a CB kit. I'l will still need to find help putting it together one weekend...

My topic drift for the day

Longfella

Consider getting the BugMe Video on engine assembly. It covers stock engines from 40 horse to 1600s. Because the CB kits should go together like a stock engine, the video is very helpful. There are a few things that would be different like cylinder shims, copper head gaskets and figuring out compression. Those topics are covered at length here and on TheSamba and elsewhere.... youtube etc.
