Can't remember what I was looking for at the time, but found a website saying I'll build you a Speedster.

It said and I quote, Call Wade Morrison at 303-564-9926 or visit starkespeedster.com for additional details.

No real photos on site, just computer generated.

Talk about a website that says nothing.

I think the website is pretty clear, it's not trying to be a replica, but a modern interpretation of the original Speedster, similar to Ford's GT, Lyonheart's K and David Brown's Speedback GT.

While it's not to my particular liking, I respect that they "modernized" the design while when upgrading with modern equipment.

At least a FORD GT looks like a FORD GT....this appears to be akin to the TBIRD revival by Ford some years back...an attempt to bring back an ICONIC design, as per SPEEDSTER, and did NOT achieve.....

Since it didn't cost anything to send an email and ask a question, I did. Here is the reply and I quote

"Good morning, this is Wade Morrison with Starke Automotive. You sent me a message in regards to the Revolution Speedster. We have designed the car to be built on a Porsche Boxster chassis from 2009 to 2012. You can select either a base model or an S, 6 speed or PDK. We can locate the donor car for you or you can select a car and send it to us for the build. Currently we are finalizing the body and will be finishing engineering and creating the mold in the next 60-90 days. Our lead fabricator is a 3rd generation expert in bodywork and paint. I've owned and run my own business for 20 years and  provide any information you need about myself or Starke. We started this build approximately 9 months ago and Starke is a new company. We did the soft launch on the car yesterday and received over 600 hundred views. We expect to build between 60-120 cars per year."

I didn't know the Porsche Boxster, had a chassis.

For 125K, one could get a SPANKING NEW IM6, with 3.6 EFI, A/C, 300HP plus with plush leather, power everything, HEATED seats for those FEBRUARY Maine nights, and a 1200 WATT stereo to hear JAY Z over that amazing ROAR!

A "MODERN" interpretation of the good DR.'s bathtub.....

Some may suggest it's ridiculous to drop $100k+ on a "replica" or hot rod version of a speedster

"To each is own"

i say more power to them. It only promotes automotive enthusiasm; isn't that what it's all about?

Roy,

When I clicked on the file I didn't get anything. Either your phishing me and I just uploaded a devastating computer virus (LOL), it didn't post properly, or my Mac doesn't like the language. Just an FYI.

Roy;

Phishing is when some one attempts to gain your personal information and data in order for financial gain for themselves.  Usual vehicles can be an email that looks official but steers you thru links to a website that also appear legit, ( it' s not) to get you to give up personal info. like updating your bank account password and ID.

Think of it like bogus callers from the IRS, wanting you to "settle" back taxes. By the way the IRS does not make initial calls at least for information.

Not a computer guy and haven't owned a Mac in 40 years or so. It's just a photo of a Porsche Boxster, I got from the net.

Not sure what "phishing me" is, but hope that's not something I did in error.

"phishing" is an attempt to get someone to go to a fake website or download a computer virus, so my use of the term was an attempt at computer humor. Not everyone gets it. No harm no foul.

I did not look up "phishing", before responding. I thought people referred to "spam" as that sort of thing.

As far as personal info. I have trouble keeping track of my own and I'm so rich already, don't need anymore money, ok maybe not.

I do find it hard to believe that anyone would give someone, they never heard of, $100,000.00 to buy something, that's never been made by that someone.

I'm slow and it takes me sometime to work out how to make posts, photos in posts, attachments to posts, etc.

Another thing, my spelling could be alot bettter.

I think it's likely to take more than "heated seats" to keep a guy warm in Maine in February.

Carry on...

Spent 3 years in BOSTON eating CHOWDAAAAHHH so I'm familiar with New England winters......just my COMEDIC dementia coming into play!

No problem, I'm just a bit bitter about the 45* weekend with wind and rain we just went through. Saturday, I was counting up "nice months" vs "lousy months", and came up with 5 and 7. November can be nice, but not reliably so. April is always unfit for an open car. That leaves May-October, and that's only 5. I felt a bit ripped off with a cruddy weekend in late May.

It's good that I like to work on 'em.

Hey, driving to Carlisle last Thursday, it was about 95F.  About the same thing on Friday during the drive.  Overnight it dropped 40 degrees and was about 52F at the show field on Saturday, with an on-and-off light drizzle.  Ahhhhhhhh........Carlisle Weather!

But then, I was in air conditioned comfort in Marantz's Suby-Coupe!  (and with a heater, late Saturday, that would drive you out in five minutes flat.)

I AM getting tired of having BOTH the Speedie and my bicycle sitting around doing nothing, though.

Hi Guys, I'm Wade and this project is for real. We took the best handling Porsche Boxster chassis and the best looking Porsche ever designed, the 1957 Speedster and created the Starke 357 Revolution Speedster. This will be the ultimate Modern Speedster and best of all it will be on an authentic Porsche chassis. You will get the classic look you love with the performance, safety & reliability that only a modern Porsche can offer. The car is already in production and we expect to have it completed in the coming months. You will see it unveiled at SEMA 2017. If you are interested in getting on our build list or need more information please visit Starkespeedster.com.

As a "DIAPER" NEWBIE to SOC and a long loving admirer of Dre. F and his bathtub, I am truly CURIOUS what the consensus feelings are about the NEW and IMPROVED NON-REPLICA STARKE.......

It is NOT a Boxster, NOT a 911,  NOT a BATHTUB, nor REPLICA.....but yes some sleek resemblance to the BELOVED ICONIC TUB......

A bit similar to Ford's attempt to resurrect the T-BIRD a couple of decades ago? I am not a big fan .......I DO like the original tub as most of our pursuits and efforts have been on behalf of "IT" despite our efforts to add horsepower, drivability, A/C, and creature comforts.
