This is NOT a job I want to do again any time soon. Since the top on a Beck is permanently affixed at the front and rear, there's a lot of gluing and stretching involved. I still have to install the top header-to-windshield frame seal, and I will probably have to do a bit more stretching on the sides. Still it looks pretty good for an amateur.

You can see that the new design has a much larger rear window - the better to see the cell-phone talking SUV momma behind me. The side windows appear to be a bit higher as well, meaning that I will have to make some new side windows. Kinda figured I would have to anyway.

I need to leave it up out in the sun to stretch today. Kinda sad as I'd like to put it down and cruise as it's unseasonably warm today.

It looks fine to me. that a factory top. I wish i was that lucky..

But ulpholstery shops have a steamer. That is the last step to get out any wrinkles.

It makes a BIG difference.

After that don.t be suprized if you have to stretch it one last time, to achive perfection.

You can kick me the next time you see me. Sorry! But thats how it done.
Michael - Most Speedster tops are "roadster" tops in that they are removed and folded up when not in use. The "convertible" top is permanently fastened to the rear of the passenger compartment - in this case by a perimeter bar and lots of contact cement. It's also glued to the windshield header like all other speedsters, but unlike most the header is permanently attached to the top frame, which is itself permanently attached to the car. It's kinda like a Miata top in that you can grab the header from the drivers seat, pull it forward, and latch it. That is, when it's been fully stretched. Right now it takes some muscle to close.

The Special Edition website has a series of pictures that show the top going up.
Thanks guys, helps a LOT ! ! The sunroof cover was kind of expensive and I've been putting the final part off because I was afraid that whatever I used would bleed through the Hartz Cloth or discolor it later, after it dried.

Good to know which is the good stuff.

Again, thanks you,

TC
