New Steering Wheel

Marc has been busy! I came home to find the little Speedy MISSING her steering wheel, then looked on the workshop counter and saw why! Sitting next to the Nardi was a new Moto-Lita! I mentioned a while back, that I'd had trouble seeing the gauges from where my line of sight was with the wheel. Well, problem solved! I love this new steering wheel ~ no more 'ducking' to see how much over the speed limit I'm driving! And sorry, but in case anyone is wondering, we aren't getting rid of the Nardi.
Plus, I got my chrome fire ext., (the red ones looked too much like my equipment on the plane!, so Marc put it in for me.
Now if the weather would just cooperate... we might just be able to get her out of the barn for a spin!!! SOON!!!

Is one an inch larger? 15"? I have a thick grip 13" - and yes gauges are hard to see.

Love the new wheel-very nice. In the "Goodbye Nardi" image, the side-by-side seems out of scale (to me); are they, in fact, that much different in size?

I guess the angle of the picture makes the Nardi look a lot smaller. I was using my iphone to take the picture, and it was hard to fit them both in the frame, so it's off. But, I think the Moto-Lita is 17", and the Nardi is 15.

Seems much greater to me, but I think it is a "foreshortening" effect of the lens in the phone. Again, the new wheel is exceptionally nice.

Nice look!

I have a 16.5 Moto on my car and it's just big enough to see all of the gauges.

But then again, all I really look at is the tach ;>)

Had the same "can't see the gauges" issue with my first steering wheel. Swapped it out for a larger diameter La Carra. It was a great improvement.

How is it you guys have such big diameter steering wheels without any trouble getting in and out of the car? I'm a relatively small guy (5'10" 150lbs) and I think when I had my Banjo it was kinda in the way and those aren't that big around. Maybe it's my seat height or steering column location but I can't see having a 15"-17" steering wheel without it being a bit in the way.

Interesting. I first thought my 14.5" Les Leston look-alike was a little large. With the dropped spokes I can clearly see all the gauges. Much more practical than the Nardi I had, pretty though it was.

Hey Mickey - I'm same height you are and 20 more pounds. More concerned about driving the tub than getting in and out.

Goes back to motorcycles. Always takes a few minutes to get "dressed for the ride". Didn't matter, because the ride itself was far superior when I got there. Rode bikes to work nearly every day for over 30 years. Now it mostly sits in the garage because I'm retired. Is that dumb or what?

That makes sense. Most Nardis are 14". My replacement Les Leston replica is 14.5".
