I just got my first Speedster replica. It is a used (2018) built by JPS. couple of questions…how does one get the heater to work? It has the vintage A/C installed on the passenger side. Also, on the driver's side by my left knee, there are two pull knobs…one opens the front bonnet, what is the other for (black one in the picture)?

Thank you all!

Another question, Is your speedster Subaru powered or powered by an  air-cooled motor. In either case you may not have a heater hooked up. If it air-cooled you can look at the underside of the engine and see if the heater boxes are installed or if there is just a" J "pipe for the exhaust. If you have heater boxes, check to see if the cables are hooked up to the arm that opens the boxes to supply heat to the front of the car. There should be two vent at the bottom of the frame that have a slide you can open when you want heat and the lever that controls the heater boxes is usually located on the tunnel between the seats. Pull the levers up to open the heater boxes and open the slides. Also look for wires coming from under the seats and you might just have seat heaters installed. They are activated by switches left and right for each seat. They could be located under the dash or by the side of the seats or on the tunnel somewhere. Hope that helps

The problem that we're going to have in helping you is that every manufacturer does things differently, and sometimes they vary from car to car by one builder.  Have you tried to see if the black knob turns?  Also, having heat will require a heater box and some hoses for coolant, as well as some ducting.  I'd look for something like that either under the dash or up in the frunk.  The black knob might be a heater valve.

Did the seller give you any info on how stuff was supposed to work?

@GolfinIan

Check your private messages.  I sent over new/used vehicle acceptance checklist that you may find helpful.  It is found up under the Resources/Knowledge Base tab up above for Supporting Members and covers a LOT of things on these cars, some safety related and some cosmetic.  It is a list created by people on here for new owners not yet familiar with the car and needing a little guidance.

Good luck with the new car!
