Hello all.  I've been considering buying a speedster for several years and since I turn 50 in July, I'm considering embracing my mid-life crisis in earnest and would like some opinions.  After reading and following all of your posts for over two years (trolling the site), I'm considering either a Beck or Intermechanicca (sp).  There is a dealer in San Diego (I live north of Seattle) called Beverly Hills Motor Cars.  First, is this a good dealership?  I've spotted a Beck that is in my price range selling for $32950.00.  This seems reasonable since it has a 2110 motor, 3:88 trans, fully optioned and appears to be well sorted.  My timetable to buy is likely June or July and I intend (based on all of your knowledge and assistance) to potentially fly into SD and buy the car.  It's been in their inventory for over a year, so I'd also like opinions on what to offer.  I suspect if I offered somewhere just south of $30K they'd probably go for it.  I'll also likely be financing at least 75% of the deal w/a local credit union here in Seattle.  Any opinions are greatly appreciated.

This car is beautiful and closer to home.  Doesn't say manufacturer, thinking Vintage.  This is one beautiful Outlaw.

Checked Google Maps.  This is very close to you.  You should at least go give it a spin.

I've seen that one in person.  It is a nice car, but I'm not sold on the color.  I'd also like a larger motor, but I'd probably be okay w/a 1915. I've also asked Park Place who manufactures their speedsters and they told me that they buy rollers from Vintage and assemble them in house.  Fit and finish are solid as well. The Beck at BHMC is loaded w/options that I would have to install or have installed myself at considerable expense.  Thanks for the feedback.  I appreciate it.

Thanks Phil.  I've been doing research, driving different models and such for about 5 years.  I'm finally ready to pull the trigger.  The late model IM I drove last summer was a rolling erection.  Really loved that car, but it was out of my price range.  I'm still trying to find the right car, but when it appears, I'll know it.  Appreciate the kind words.

Mark-  FYI the Park Place speedsters are manufactured by Vintage Speedster... They don't just buy rolling chasis chassis.   All the PP guys do is add the scrips, horn button, and put some miles on the car to begin to shake out any teething issues.

My current VS was built by Kirk last spring, and rode on the same truck as several VS built for PP.  I even met the truck driver at the PP parking lot to pick my car.... he was running late and figured i would save him from coming into Seattle during peak traffic.  The PP guys did not appreciate me picking up my car there... actually made the truck driver drive it out to the street to hand over my keys.

On average PP marks up their VS cars significantly, and do very little beyond what Kirk is willing to do.

send me a dialog if you want to meet up for a test drive.  I have a hard top option on mine... Extended my driving season significantly.

Great advice and thanks all for the feedback.  I'm not surprised the PP told me that they built in house.  I've had mixed reviews of their practices and I figured that their markup was significant.  I'll ping you guys in the next month once I get ready to pull the trigger.  Really appreciate it and I'm really looking forward to getting in the action!  Beck 356, I'll keep your offer in mind.  Again, thanks everyone for being so welcoming.  I really appreciate it.
