good input!
i might have the answer to the profile problems, rustytubs has used sheetmetal for dash/windshield and trunk/deck area for rear.
also brand new conversion parts from trevorhammerworks
I found a couple of years ago how unforgiving purists are, i had a authentic shelby 67 gt-350 , when i got the car it had flares fenders and a xtra hot 289 435hp(Dynoed) 4sp, 41,0000 miles lowered it had been stored for 2 periods over 10 years each, it started with a prime of 1oz gas and a boost and 1 flick of the key, i traded a bunch of old farm equiptment for it which cost me $1,000.00. sounds great eh.
i could not drive park stop anywhere without offers on the car and admiring comments, but within 2 weeks of being on the road a bunch of local mustang experts here in calgary decided that they had to smear me with internet posts stating the car was fake, rebodied, that i said this, did that, hundereds of posts worldwide.
i was hit in an accident in my other mustang and could not work for a couple of years, i unfortunately had to sell the car, no apraiser in calgary would appraise it calling it a fake, based on internet reports. i finally found a buyer at $46,000.00 last year which is 50% of what it should have sold for here. the buyer and i remain friends and this year we found that the car had been prepared by shelby in 67 for a race series in spain and they could not recall this car because it was not sold as a new car, but as racing equiptment in a package of 3 cars and supplies with no registration.
this car is now apraised at $185,000usd. and is headed to a museum
i guess i did ok on the deal, but if not for the experts who viciously attacked the car i may have kept it. but i could not stand the unwarrented negativity. i bought the car to enjoy it!!!
anyway same deal here, i want to enjoy a topless car i loved a local racer john cattle and and his speedster , that car was driven fast!
