That's really helpful. I'll try some searches around boat supplies. I've emailed Vintage too to see if they have them in stock. 

Yes, Lane is correct, it is a common Marine fastener sometimes called a "canvas fastener" and I've also seen it called a "twist lock" fastener.  They are usually pretty standard on the size of the "oval" but will vary in height, thickness, attachment style, and finish.

Hello @Simon Middleton, and welcome to our madness!

I second (third?) the suggestion of finding a boat upholstery place near you.  They should be as cheap and perhaps less expensive than something shipped from over here, and those parts, IIRC, are made in Europe!  Lots of better auto upholstery places may have them, too.

My '59 MGA had one either side for hood (top).  Called a turn button #23.
