Mine's a fully automatic it loses something in the translation. One less shift.. 3 speed... but it still hollers nice when you hit the kick down.


I wish someone made a 5 speed automatic for these cars I'd have to have one in her..

Barry, Berg makes a conversion to put a 5 speed in, and when I saw the price tag... I had a wardrobe malfunction! As for the horn, I'm slowly getting around to fixing it, but it's actually kind of a unique sound... I dunno...

I have recieved a few emails actually asking about my seats... Honestly, I don't have a clue what they are or where they are from. Perhaps somebody has seem my pictures and can comment. I've also been told they are VS seats and door panels??

Nice video I didn't look at. I too liked the piping on the seats I didn't see. I'm not going for a drive in my speedster that is sitting in my drive way warming up right now, or not.

Love the snarl but it sounded like you were having some trouble with your shifter?

Also, behind the air drumming on the micrphone I could hear that you'd left the L/H side of your top cover unsnapped causing it to flap in the wind.

Even with those it's a great sound and a nice ride - Congrats!

Ha! Yeah I forgot my top wasn't snapped.. Shifting issues? You don't know the beginning of it... I'm chasing it down as we speak..

Keith: I've seen your other posts regarding shifting and wondered if you were aware that some VW models need you to shift at an angle slightly towards 4th when going from 1st to 2nd.

Thanks, but it's struggling to go into 1st at a stand still.... I didn't have these problems with the bushing missing! LOL

Make sure the tranny is full of tranny oil and check your clutch adjustment. I liked 1/2 lose travel before it touches thr throw out bearing when your depressing it. 3/4 is the norm but if your gonna power shift 1/2 inch play is more precise.

But what the heck !!I dont have a clutch in any of my cars anymore (Bad knees)

I mounted my toyoda horns in a strap of mudflap rubber to isolate them it makes a chrisp sound. IT stops the frummpy horn noise. You have to add a ground but hey they sound darn loud and good tones.

Well, at that time, it is a mild 1776, dual Solex carburetors, tiny little heater box headers (stock)Monza or Empi 4 tip exhaust. I have since gone to Vintage Speed's Speedster exhaust. Not to be confused with vintage speedsters.... just vintage speed exhaust is what I have now... Thanks!!
