Great looking Speedster! Engine size? Discs or drums? swingaxle or independent rear suspension? 4x130 or 5x205 mm bolt pattern? I think someone's going to be wanting to borrow the car when they get older... Al
Thanks! Discs all round, 1915cc engine, swingaxle, 5x205. He wants me to drop him off at school every day

Very cool! Do you have any details about the engine output or what's in it? And I don't like the look in your son's eyes- you're gonna have to hide the keys when he gets his licence...
I don't know too much about it except it's the standard 1915cc 110hp offering from VMC - twin 40mm Kadrons, Magnaspark ignition. I'm going to ask VMC if they have a more detailed breakdown.

Congrats now get to Hwy 1 and enjoy the coastal ride.

When you talk to them can you ask what camshaft is in it and it's specs? You want to know the duration, duration @ .050" and lift at the cam. Thanks in advance- Al
WOO HOO, she's a beauty! Congrats on getting your new ride. Here's wishing you many miles of top-down cruising enjoyment.
"Welcome The Madness" known as replica Speedster ownership.
Congratulations and beautiful car! Glad you have joined us.

It’s a beauty. Welcome to the madness.
@ALB I'll ask and report back!
@IaM-Ray I live in SF so Hwy 1 isn't far away. We also have a 79 VW Bus and did a camping trip from Santa Monica to Petaluma. Went all the way North on the 1 - it was stunning, but took a really long time!
@MusbJim @Michael Pickett Thanks for the welcomes!

Took a really long time... sure it is slow and the view is so intoxicating that you have to drive slow or you'll be off the cliff especially in the northern parts

It has a brown top, side curtains and cover with a Buck interior (I'll grab a photo in a bit!)

Al, I think it's YOU who wants to know all that stuff.
It sounds to me like Matthew just wants to drive the thing.
What I find amazing is that his son wants to be seen being dropped off at school by his dad. The Speedster is a truly transformative vehicle.
Party on, Matthew.

I actually got super lucky - someone else ordered this and didn't follow through with the sale. I was plan B! It basically had everyone on it that I would have spec'd up anyway.

...and soccer, and scouts. I actually found my younger one in there curled up asleep on Saturday! Time to set some rules...
That is lucky. Congratulations. I ordered one a month ago. Expecting about a year wait.

Should've bought a Lottery ticket on the same day after receiving it...

@Sacto Mitch when you can share good times with family it is priceless.

I love it when a plan falls apart... then comes together.
super nice! Enjoy the ride!
Looks great, congrats. I’m about a month out on mine from Vintage, Ivory as well.
Same here! Can't wait.
Congrats and welcome @Matthew Butt. Beautiful speedster. I am also waiting on my VMC - it will be silver with a red interior. Expected completion is mid May - I hope to hear more soon!
Congratulations! Beautiful car. I took delivery of my Beck in November and I still can't quite wipe the grin off my face. My son loves it too and keeps talking about how it will be his some day (he's 13)
Where the Porsche logos on it already or did you place them yourself?

They were added after the build.
Where is your brake fluid reservoir?
Mine was left where you had to get on hands and knees with flashlight
I hadn’t moved to the correct position which I hope yours is in. But in Scottsdale Arizona where they make these Speedster’s they don’t tell you that there are garage queens only to be driven occasionally and looked at

@JPC Matthew’s speedster was built in Hawaiian Gardens, CA, by Vintage Motorcars. Not Vintage Speedsters in AZ.
I have it in the correct spot now so I actually see it. Before it was Left front axle
The point I’m trying to make is I think everybody should be careful when they buy a replica that they don’t take shortcuts. Who would ever think that their brake fluid reservoir would be in a spot that you could never see.
Only in Arizona which is the newest state and that’s why we don’t know these things very well
The MC with the attached reservoir is the standard for old beetles. I agree, it’s a little cheesy to leave it. My Spyder had the same, and a single circuit MC.
When I upgraded to a hydraulic clutch and dual circuit brake MC, I added frunk-mounted MCs so can can see the levels every time I unplug my battery tender.
Congrats on a great looking Speedster Matt. Hope you’re out there and enjoying driving her. Can I ask if you’re finding the standard 1914cc engine powerful enough with 110hp?

Ha, "powerful enough" for what? I think a car can always be more powerful for some reason, like your TV can never be too big
I'm never going to take her out on the track, and being so low to the ground with very little around you, even 60mph feels terrifyingly fast to me. So is it powerful enough for me? Yes! Would it be more fun with more power? Yes!
