Well i debut the new wheels and motor this past weekend at one of our larger VW shows here in Colorado. I think the car turned out nice and got a lot of attention. I did win the Porsche class. I was a little surprised because there was a real nice 911 and a beautiful spyder on hand.

Looking good @Carrozzino. What are the details for your motor? Is that a Type IV?
DANG! And I thought before you made those changes "How can that car get any MORE bad-a$$"?
The motor size is a 1776 Type 1 motor. We used 90.5 Mahle Piston and Cylinders, New Empi 98-1430-B GTV-2 Wedge-Port Vw Bug Racing Head 40 X 35.5 Valves 90.5/92 Bore, Joe Blow custom ground a cam cam for me with matching lifters. Solid rockers. the super charger is an AMR 500, Straight cut gears, Italian DHLA Dollorto side draft with 25mm vitrines velocity stacks and air cleaners. WE locked out the 009 distributor for limited advance. 15/8" Side flow Exhaust System all Stainless Steel. I had all tin powder coated black with a clear powder coat. All parts were balanced before assembaly. We pulled all plugs to clean out all the oil passages. The motor is vented from the oil filler neck. I did have an IRS freeway flyer built with 388 gears and super dif side plates. Running a .82 fourth gear for better highway driving . I'm pretty happy with the way the car drove to the show. The show was in the lower part of our foot hills. The car had no issues going up and down the canyon. Next step deck lid that I have purchased and currently working on fitment.
Well, it certainly does look very clean and fits in with the overall look of the car. Like Sinatra says, "I did it my way.", which is what you've done. Very impressive.
I owned a CMC widebody speedster that had a Mazda rotary engine and a whale tail deck lid that would work to make room for your SC. If you like that look. I guess CMC used to make this engine compartment lid at some point. The Speedster was one of the few built in house by CMC for a special customer and it was a cabriolet with roll up windows. The exhaust are Harley motorcycle pipes.

Jimmy V,
Good looking car. The whale tail would be an option but not the direction i want to take the car. I have a few ideas that i'm going to try. Thinking along the lines of a scoop with an open front with a screen. with all the seals on the bottom in place I think that fresh air from the top can help keep the engine cool. I will post some pictures once i fabricate something up. I think it will be several weeks before i can get back to the garage to work on this.
We used to run side draft weber carbs on modified turbo powered Corvair engines. I know guy that modifies the side draft carbs to make them more street friendly and also allow more power in half to full throttle conditions. He modifies the side draft into a progressive carb by cutting the butterfly shaft in two and having the one throat of the carb setup with a smaller venturi sleeve and the other throat is setup large as it will go. The large throat is opened via a vacuum signal from the intake so you have less of a stumble as you go full throttle. It is set up to run on the small throat until approx. half throttle as the vacuum builds the large power throat of the carb tips in and opens progressively until both sides are full open near full throttle situations. I don't know if you have any trouble getting your engine to run smoothly in around the town driving , if so this may be something to look into.

Right now the motor is running pretty well. I did swap out the 25mm ventures for some 28 mm's and the motor fell in it's face. guessing to much air. We did not try different jets at the time only because i was trying to get the car ready for the show so I switched them back and messed with the timing a little more. I may try a set of 26 mm if i can find a set. Parts for dellortos are not as available as Weber ones. The 28's i had to get from the UK. i have many different sets of jets that i got with the kit so it will just be a matter of finding the right combination with fuel air.
Jimmy...I purchased that speedster with rotary engine and roll-up windows...if memory serves me correctly it had red velour interior...I sold it and it went to OH.
If you would like all the pics i have of it pm me.
