Hello to all,
Really enjoy your forum and chats. I am a new member and a recent buyer as I found a CMC C from the original owner in MD that was built as a turn-key, not by CMC but by an outfit they reccomended in Ohio that went bankrupt in 89 or so. The original owner of this car played hell getting it out of there when the bank padlocked the place. Had a few questions I might pose to you all. Anybody know of this outfit and or it's build quality? Car has a mere 2900 miles on the clock, runs incredibly well, dual down draft webbers, brazilian block, 2.75 ltr engine with 0401 heads? I am assuming this is a goood thing. (Sorry but I am former mustang guy) Has some butt ugly period wheels that I want to upgrade. It is a 4 lug, carmen ghia front discs. Champion axle? Would like to upgrade to either a stock wider look or a 16-17 inch wheel? Any input (Size and offset) would be great. Trying to fill thefender wells but not rub...Lastly, where do you find purpose built spares for these? Right now the horn goes off when you turn the steering wheel, gas guage inop and you need 3 feet to push on the brakes to stop it. Owner claimed it was always a very heavy brake pedal. Cheers to all.

Hi, thanks. You are right,I thought it to be too big as well, I am thinking he (original owner) might be confusing it with something else. Although He does have a 2.3 emblem from a Benz on the back. He said it was the biggest sticker that he liked to put on the back. Does runs like stink though. No rust to speak of that i can see , I will be looking to see if master is in need of replacing. Thanks for the help. Cheers, Dave
2.7L is heck of a 4 cylinder VW T1 engine - sounds like typo. A 2276cc would have an 82mm throw crank with 94mm piston bore. Guess it could be one of Jake's MassiveTIVs though. If T1 then probably 041 heads - should be cast into heads with bunch of other # when you take off valve covers to adjust them - every 3k miles or so). Brakes are not power assisted (not even vaccum) but they should not much effort. Perhaps the calipers are rusty or the rear drums need adjusting.
