What is it with guys named GERD and all caps!?
I DONT GET THE CAPS THINGS
GERD has been around the SOC for as long as I have (or more), but since he was abducted by aliens he has forgotten much of the past. His mind is a little off kilter now, and he has been known to speak to plants. He tells us that he thinks he is an accountant and his computer only has upper case letters. He's not a large person and we all think that he's compensating, but we still love him - well, all of us except for the largely fictional Vince.
Vinny is GERD's alter-ego, they're really the same person.
Whoa . . . that explains a lot.
And you can invite GERD to your rally, party, or dinner, but he won't make it.
C'mon Kelly, don't make me sad. I really am hoping he makes Carlisle at some point.
Yeah that would be awesome, but in the end: he can't make it -- even if he does.
when is it this year? where would I fly into and fly out of
It is May 19-22 and the closest airport is Harrisburg, PA. A bunch of us would love to meet the infamous GERD! You need to book ASAP so you can get a hotel room with us.
LANE HOW FAR IS THAT FROM PITTSBURGH

PA is a big state E-W, P'burgh being way west, and Carlisle being way east. GERD, have you ever heard of GoogleMaps?? Try it and see for yourself. Nearest large AP is Philly, I'd suppose. That said, if you are really serious about this, consult w/ Ignacio, as he knows the way, and might even be coming himself. One option often exercised is to fly into BWI (might be cheapest) and hook up w/ any one of several Speedster maniacs there, and then ride up from B'more to Carlisle the next day. Plenty of free accommodations available to you in/around Dc area, with many right seats up the road. Maybe you could snag a lift in the Hoopty -- that would be a "unique" experience. Carlisle is about two hours or so ride from DC/Baltimore area. Many options for you to choose while you can't make it.
THANK U GUYS. HOW FAR IS HARRISBURG AIRPORT FROM THERE.
NO JOKING BUT I CANT MAKE IT
WHAT HOTEL WOULD I MAKE RESERVATIONS WITH

VINCE IS BOOKED
On what charges?
I hereby offer GERD a ride in my non-Speedster as I am told he is allergic to Speedsters and only drives/rides in totally GHEY Japanese-powered vehicles.
ok what can I expect with the east coast crew
is it safe to bring my wife
Of course it's safe. We wouldn't do anything bad, would we guys?
In all seriousness it is a family oriented event - except for the late night cigar and booze sessions perhaps. Some folks even bring kids and most of them are not scarred for life.
GERD: talk to MUSBJIM -- you two are on speaking terms, right??
And for Christ's sake, there is all you could possibly want to know about the Carlisle event in -- wait for it . . . the Events thread here. If serious about this, you really must get on the stick w/ the Hotel (Marriott) and get a room.
And, you have a WIFE??!!! Wonder how that happened . . .
OMG! You guys have no idea what you are being sucked into here.
Thank God a date has not been decided on for the West coast meet yet. If Gerd is going to Carlisle, I would propose that we schedule the West coast meet for the same time as Carlisle.
TROY SHUTUP!!!!!!!!!!!!!
On what charges ? BWAAAHAHAHAAAAAA
