Since I'm considering to use a 356 as my daily vehicle in the Miami area, I was wondering how long it takes to put up the top. I'm used putting up softtops on Wranglers, which takes a couple of minutes (so I guess I don't expect the same kinda ease as on a SLK). Anyways, is it easy enough to quickly pull over when it starts raining, or is it an immensely convoluted process? Are certain tops better than others?

I find for my needs I use the tonneau cover daily. When I park my car I zip it up, if it rains the car stays dry. If I am headed home and it starts to rain, if it isn't raining too hard I leave the passenger side zipped and figure so what if I get a bit wet?

Another nice thing about tonneau covers is it keeps items in the car out of sight. And they look 50's period.
A suggestion: Keep all the moveable metal roof parts lubricated with silicone spray. I bought mine used and the buckles were kind of stiff. It took 10 minutes to put up the top the first time, and about 1 minute after lubing and learning to buckle the passenger side first.
I like to drive at night with the top up, and the passenger side curtain in ( but not the drivers side curtain). That way I get some ventilation, but it is not windy inside. The windows don't fog over with some ventilation occuring too.
