I've read through some of the forum's and info on the web about 550's and seems there's a lot to know. Given that a buyer will come across such a wide range of; engines, transmissions, suspensions, quality, home made, "factory" made (i.e. Beck), etc., how would you advise someone to make sure they get a decent car and a fair deal (if they don't have a lot of mechanical knowledge)? Is is best (for a newbie) to stay with something built by Beck or TR, on the premise that this is their specialty and they seem to be acknowledged as reputable producers?
Also, might anyone out there have any feedback on the following 550 listed on ebay?

I'm looking for a clean 550 that needs no cosmetic or mechanical work, happy to buy a used one, provided it's fairly nice. I would welcome any recommendations. Many thanks, Dave
