I have an interest in building or buying a 550 Spyder. I am very new to this board and I don't mean to make anyone mad with what I say so please don't take it as a slam to your cars. I am reading and trying to learn as much as possible about these cars and how they are built. As far as I know there are non in my area so I have no first hand knowledge and can only speak from what I read on these forums.
What would the reaction be to a Spyder built to replicate the body as true as possible but utilizing the advancements in suspension design that are available today? It seems all the 550's being built today use suspension components whose design is essentially 50 years old.
I understand the efforts of the car manufacturers to stay true to the originals but it seems like an alternative choice should be available.
Turbocharged Subaru power with modern handling should be a winner for both the owner and the manufacturer.
I would appreciate your thoughts whatever they might be.
