The heater boxes are 1.5 inch and George is correct on the dia. of the pipe after the header. I copied the muffler system on my 2165 and noticed a nice difference in drivability over the older, original IM system. It is much smoother when driving in town at 3000 rpm. I have the old 1.36"dia heater boxes and header. I will go to 1.5 when Henry gets the final header design set.
Dale, that exhaust system looks great! I'm getting my 1 5/8" system back from ceramic coating tomorrow. I'll post pictures this weekend.
The two muffler system may be the way to go. Mine is a single Magnaflow and it's a bit too loud when I get on the throttle. When you get up in the 140-150+ horsepower range, as mine will be, it's a hard decision to make between the 1 1/2" and the 1 5/8" system, if you want heater boxes.

Here are a couple of pictures that Henry just sent me. They are of his latest exhaust system that will be in production early June. These are pictures of the system on a beautiful green "D" with brown leather interior being picked up and driven home to the mid-west this week. Henry says it is nice and quiet and flows very well. He is having the Headers custom made for him.

Ron and others, At Henry's suggestion I used the original MagnaFlow mufflers that came on the car and had the mufflers placed in series as in the pictures. I was very surprised that the noise was greatly reduced. When Michele and I drove the 450 miles to the Knotts Berry Farm show we could here the CD's and converse at a fairly normal level of voice. This was at a sustatined 3500-3700 rpm.

All modifications, for most of us anyway, are series of compromises. I (read:my wife) requires heat. I want MORE POWER! so I will have heater boxes and a little more power. That is what life is all about, eh?
George is correct. It will add additional weight to the rear of the car. But how much? You have about 6 feet of 2 1/2" pipe vs 6 feet of 2" pipe. Will that make much difference in the cost of tea in China?

You will need to remove the system to adjust the valves, probably a once a year job for most of us, twice a year at the most, well maybe 3 times a year.
George, I know weight is the enemy. I used to be a performance freak too. The best and cheapest way to drop weight is to quit eating at McD's or others. In my old age, I have definitly become "built for comfort, not for speed" Let me know when you drive through CA. I'd really like to meet you and see your car.
Ron, That picture was taken on one of the days I spent at Intermeccanica testing the my car before Henry shipped it to me. I drove it up to Squamish in a nasty rainstorm and all I could think about was breaking the rear end loose on the slippery streets. I have been up on vacation but not in the Speedster, the wife needs more room. It is beautiful up there and Shannon Falls is pretty spectacular.
