As some of you know, my son, Chris and I have been off-and-on spotters for TRG Motorsports GT entries at Daytona in the past (with a pretty decent reputation of spotting two years and a 1'st and 2'nd podium win behind us).  Many of you saw my documentary video on this at the last Carlisle gathering.

Unfortunately, neither of us are able to make the race on January 26-27, 2013, due to family committments, but I thought you folks might be interested to learn that Porsche is no longer factory supporting the five Rolex GT3 class cars that TRG fielded for them - Indeed, Porsche is backing away from GT class racing and letting the privateers take over while they look more at Grand-Am opportunities.

In Porsche's place, TRG has formed an alliance with Aston Martin and expanding their overall effort with not only factory-supported racers in Grand-Am, GT3 and GT4 classes, but greatly expanding their marketing reach to both corporate clients and customers alike.  You can read about it here:

Look for the familiar TRG colors again in 2013 at the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona.  They'll just be on different cars this year.......

Actually, jimbo, we'll probably be back there next year. While spotting for Porsche cars was Uber-cool, we're in it more for the fun and getting to know guys like Kevin Buckler, Spencer Pumpelly, Andy Lally, Pat Long and Jorg Bergmeister.  Wicked-cool guys and some of the best drivers on Earth.  We'll be back and spotting for them again - or whoever is driving the TRG Aston-Martin stallions!

I'll be in the pits on Saturday (1/26) but have to bug out that night for other committments.  Watch all the action on Speed Channel and remember that Aston Martins sound as cool as Porsche GT-3's coming down the front stretch when you're up on the grandstand roof!!!!
