Wow. That does look like a good deal for a roll-up-windows IM.
Looks like an early pan-based car, so the price may not be as great a deal as it seems.

Perhaps I'm missing the "tells", but I don't know how we can know that, Lane. There are no shots of the frame, and none of the footwells.
Regardless, Canadian guys face many more obstacles to ownership (besides weather) than we do in the states. Finding a Canadian titled and registered IM Roadster for less than $30K is a bit like finding a piece of the ark of the covenant in your basement. It's pretty rare, and a screamin' deal at this price.
Could this car be brought into the USA?

Yes-it's a lot easier to go south than it is to go north.
It would be nice to know what year it is.
What is the cut off? Does it have to be 25 years old?
Stan - I based my comment on the lack of trim on the dash and the large sills next to the doors. However, the one shot of the footwell shows partially covered pedals and a squarish tunnel, so my first comment was probably wrong. Mea culpa.
There is no "cut off" exporting any motor vehicle from Canada to the States. Importing any "replica" motor vehicle from the States to Canada requires that it be built more than 15 years ago and be prepared to prove it. You must also surrender the title to the US border people 72 hours previous to crossing into Canada for them to check things out. ALL paperwork must be in order to then bring the vehicle into Canada.

Everything you need to know should be here:

I'd like to know how he installed the drop spindles without rubbing issues.
I'd think this is a newer IM. Mainly because this is a roadster with wind up windows. Were there pan based roadsters like this made back then??

I would think so.
I was told by Henry that:
Generally speaking, 1987-88 was the ‘transition year’ between building our cars on VW pans and building them on our new tube frame chassis, so some cars built in that year were still on VW pans.
Here's a 1986 (pan based car) with wind up windows. Looks like a good deal too.
That's an interesting console on the black IM.
Also a screamin' deal. And legal for import to Canada. It's a good time to be a shopper looking for an inexpensive car.

Stan: That car is already in Canada. Ancaster is in southern Ontario, close to where I live.
And oddly enough, the opening note on this thread featured another Speedster for sale in Dundas, Ontario, Canada....right beside Ancaster, Ontario. Don't see that too often.
