I have no FM signal. i think it's the antenna? it has an antenna though, under the dash, it continues to seek while in stereo mode . I'm not real familiar with this problem, although it seems to be a rather simple one, so excuse my ignorance, i haven't had time to research this so i'll just throw this problem out there.
Someone said that it needs an antenna booster, is this a special high signal antenna or this something you add in series with the antenna ?

Sounds more like you have a faulty connection on the antenna circuit....or not enought "antenna".... Try a longer wire (used as an antenna) and if your signal improves, change antenna types... Most people use the windshield frame as the antenna, which works well if it isn't grounded....
I agree, the receiver would not "hunt" if it was getting any sort of antenna input. Are you sure the antenna plug is inserted properly ? I've seen antenna plugs that felt like they were plugged in properly, but were not.
If its a fiberglass car, make sure the antenna is grounded. Ground is HUGE importance. Also, stand the antenna up, FM waves are horizontal, if the antenna is also horizontal, it may be tougher to receive the waves.
I used a amplified Motor cycle hidden antenna and it works great, I think I got Canada once...
My under-the-dash antenna recently packed it in too.
