Just when everything was going so well...
Went for a drive this evening to purchase a brake light bulb... i had one that was very dim when braking with lights off, when i turned the lights on and hit the brakes it would not light at all. They are beehives.
On the way to the store I noticed the generator light come on. Replaced the bulb in the parking light and was on my way. Tried the lights while the engine was running and the only thing that happened is the red generator light became brighter. Tried the turn signals, generator light got brighter, no signals. Tried the windshield wipers... nothing but a brighter red gen light. You get the idea.
I replaced several electric components over the past two weeks.
1. installed new flasher relay
2. Installed new headlight relay (brights would work fine, but reg headlights did not want to come on)
3. Installed Petronix Electronic ignition (No. 1844) in my 019 distributor
4. Pulled both headlights out and installed fluted glass lenses.
5. today replaced tail/brake light bulb
6. Installed new long reach spark plugs, I have 044 heads and its my understanding they take the 3/4" (19mm)long plugs. The plugs I pulled out were the shorter autolites.
So, any ideas where to start?
Oh, Wipers and turn signals will work when i have the ignition turned to the accessory switch. Also worth notingLast night while out for a ride the lights went out, they worked while the accessory switch was on, just not while the engine was running. a little massaging and patience on the side of the road and i could see and be seen again. Now the headlights nor the parking lights will go on while the key at any position, car running or not.
