I drove my vintage speedster yesterday (I bought it about 2 years ago and it only has about 900 Mi. on it) it ran perfect until I went to fire it up and leave work; it kinda fired for a sec then nothing..... we checked the ign. there was power to the coil (Bosch blue) but no power from the coil to the distributer... got a new coil today..... same thing... it has an EMPI electronic ign. provided by Kirk of Vintage.... any ideas... I'm stumped.

Before you change to points, remove the module from the inside base of the distributor by removing the base screw.

Use 4xxx steel wool or fine emery cloth and sand the base of the module and the base of the distributor.

Re-intall the module and make sure that the red wire from the module is attached to the 12 volt side of the coil and the black wire is attached to the negative side of the coil. (connections need to be tight)

The module gets its ground from the base of the distributor and if there is corroision or a bad contact, it won't work.
Give it another try.

If that didn't solve the problem then try the points.

If the car starts after cleaning the module then remove the module hold down screw and apply a drop of loctite and make sure its securely fastened to the floor of the distributor.

If the car starts with points then you need a new module available from several sources including www.cbperformance.com
www.cip1.com etc etc
