No speedo hole

Ok i have a driverside spindle with something down in the hole that will not allow tha cable to install.

Its a Cip part. probaly made in CHINA

Is there a trick to geting the plug or whatever it is out punch wont budge. it drill wont drill it out.

Typical lack of ANY quality control. If you can't send it back (and complain like CRAZY ! ! !), maybe a little heat on the outside of the spindle while you work the blockage in either direction from inside?

Even tapping the outside and letting heat and gravity work for you.

Luck with this! It's gonna happen to someone else next and maybe soon so let's hear how it was solved.

If you have a spindle that has a hole that is too small for your speedo cable it means that your new spindle needs the proper speedo cable. There was a change in the speedo end size.

Nope ! TC nailed it .. they need a new name Chinese Import Poop. They need to match the original spec.s on these cars .to use the origanal stuff..

Who wants a restored car that the speedo wont work on. and the parts dont match the factory specs NO ONE !!!!!

They did a very very poor job on the drillings they dont aline . they are half a hole off and I have heated and bent these spindles to correct the ackerman (they stays on)

I blew up the drill later this evening trying to rebore it i need a long reach slender tip grinder its barely big enough to drive a 1/4 inch x 1 blank through it, and it bends it. I need 5/16 to clear.. Im sure I,ll get it But MAN this is stupid.

I got it closer I gotta continue trying. NEW DRILL first..

I have freind with just the thingy. but due to how picky he is. He wants to do it himself. Its a right expencive toy. specal porting tools for hard carbon steel. with long slender grinding tips from 1/16 to 5/16 ...8 inces long. BUT WHEN . he is always busy with some thing else,,..

when I ordered these i specificly asked for 67 Ghia replacements I.ve already had to swap the bearings and races out but i rather have the common bearings so thats fine.

I worked hard to get these spindles bent to the sweet spot.

I just have to make it work. but I am open to idea's and sugesstions of special grinding tools and tips i do have a air dye grinder i may have to try to weild on a extintion to a new 1/4 inch stone,

I just need to conserve all I can right now I have to have some new gravel on our drive way before winter makes it messy its about 1,000 ft or so not counting the circle. It needs it pretty bad

After a bunch other things that I had to wait on around here to appeaze the god of war. Mainly MOM.. I finally got the hole drilled out correcting the mis bore of the spindle.

I used a bigger drill with a slow gear drive dabbed some axle grease on the 5/16.s bit and it wasn't too big a deal after undoing the shock to lower the spindle for the bigger drill. it went fine.

But don't ya just hate to do exra unnessary things that your not supposed to have ta do?????????????


But the KEY is big slow drill and a good sharp 5/16.s bit.
